Performance | Unrehearsed: Improvised Shakespeare

Love’s Labours Lost presented by Barefoot Shakespeare Company. Lovingly called “Shakespeare for Sports Fans,” Unrehearsed allows actors to stretch their improv muscles. Actors are assigned a part and have 30 days to learn lines; at no time are they permitted to rehearse with each other. The performance is complete with a referee who calls “foul” for missed cues, flubbed lines, etc. and the audience can place bets on who they think will foul the most. It’s a two-hour extravaganza where half the fun is watching the magic of theatre happen live and in-person, while hoping the actors will mess up.

Opera | Screening of Verdi's La Traviata: Opera Masterpiece In a Park

The opera is based on La Dame aux camelias (1852), a play adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas. It was first performed in 1853 in Venice. La Traviata ("the fallen woman") has become immensely popular and is the most frequently performed of all operas, featuring the most iconic scores of all time. It tells the story of the tragic love between the Parisian courtesan Violetta and the romantic Alfredo Germont. Enjoy this masterpiece in HD recording of Michael Mayer's dazzling staging, which premiered during the 2018-19 season at the Metropolitan Opera. Conductor Yannik Nezet-Seguin leads a starry ensemble. As Violetta, the consumptive heroine fighting to find true happiness, soprano Diana Damrau delivers a compelling portrayal. Tenor Juan Diego Florez sings his first Verdi role with the company, as Violetta's ardent yet impetuous lover, Alfredo, and baritone Quinn Kelsey rounds out the principal cast as Giorgio Germont, Alfredo's implacable father.
