One of the oldest free weekly events in Manhattan is Dixieland Jazz with the Gotham Jazzmen, which happen at noon every Tuesday. Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. If you are classical music afficionado, you can spend whole day in New York going from one free classical concert to another. If you love theater, then New York gives you an option to attend plays and musicals free of charge, or at deep discount. You just need to have information about it. Museums | Art and Sculpture Museum and Garden


The museum was designed and created in 1985 by one of the twentieth century's most important and critically acclaimed sculptors Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988). Through a lifetime of artistic experimentation, he created sculptures, gardens, furniture and lighting designs, ceramics, architecture, and set designs. The museum aims to preserve and display Noguchi's work.

Classical Music | World-Renowned Conductor Pierre Boulez at the 2008 Salzburg Festival with The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (virtual)


Pierre Boulez (1925-2016) became one of the most prominent conductors of his generation. In a career lasting more than sixty years, he held the positions of chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and music director of the New York Philharmonic, and principal guest conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra. He made frequent guest appearances with many of the world's other great orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. In this 2008 concert at the Salzburg Festival, Boulez is joined by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for a program that features Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales, Stravinsky's The Firebird, and Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 1 with highly-acclaimed Daniel Barenboim. Streaming will be available until August 13, 12 PM.

Piano concert series, showcasing ragtime, stride, and jazz pianists. Today: A former student of jazz legend Kenny Barron, Victor Lin is happy to have been a part of the series since it began in 2004. As both a pianist and a violinist, Victor has performed at venues throughout NYC such as The Blue Note, Flushing Town Hall, The Asia Society, and The Knickerbocker. Victor is currently an instructor at Columbia University and the director of the jazz department at The Calhoun School on the upper west side of Manhattan, where he has taught for the last 15 years.

Classical Music | 100 Years of American Art Songs (in-person and live-stream)


Baritone Richard Hodges, accompanied by pianist Tabitha Johnson, presents over 100 years of black-composed American art song. Composers featured include Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875-1912), Mark Fax (1911-1974), Margaret Bonds (1913-1972). The concert is followed by refreshments in the courtyard where audience members have the opportunity to converse with the performers. Sunnyside resident Juliann Lavallee’s newest work, Under Woodside, uses inspiration from the 1954 Dylan Thomas poem "Under Milk Wood" to depict a single day within a few borough blocks. Directed by Bryna Kearney, Under Woodside feels like a long-awaited, post-Covid group hug. It strives to capture NYC’s flavor in a way that resonates with natives, transplants, and vacationers.

No jazz singer on the scene today bridges sacred and secular like Chicago vocalist Tammy McCann. Throughout her career, McCann has paid homage to gospel pioneer Mahalia Jackson. In addition to their spirit-filled voices, both Jackson and McCann traveled from the South to make their homes in Chicago, where Thomas Dorsey created the modern gospel music sound. McCann follows in Jackson's footsteps when she takes the stage.
