Brooklyn-based dance, theater, and interdisciplinary artist Ogemdi Ude updates her celebrated work MAJOR for an outdoor space. The work explores the physicality and history of majorette dance—a fundamental relic of Black girlhood. Six Black femmes engage in majorette dance to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Experiments in improvised and verbatim language intertwine with a music score integrating Southern rap, horns, drumlines, and melodic R&B and soul by Lambkin.

Dancing | Learn How To Tango in the Park
Enjoy introductory Argentine Tango lessons, music, and social dancing in the open air with Strictly Tango NYC. Lessons are held at 6:30pm. and 7:30pm, with social dance time between lessons. Space is limited, unreserved, and available on a first-come, first-served basis. If there is heavy rain at the time of the event, the event will be canceled.

Enjoy an exhilarating and hypnotic dance production that invites audiences to consider how art can inspire action in response to the changing environment around us, from dance artist Sung Im Her. The U.S. premiere features seven dancers, electrifying movement, pulsating music, and dynamic lighting. 1 Degree Celsius explores the individual and collective body, placing humanity at the centre of our relationships with the urban and natural world. Concert | Folk Idioms, Modern Harmony, & Inventive Orchestration with Singer-Songwriter
Enjoy a performance by a prodigious fiddle, guitar, and banjo player, Vermont-born singer-songwriter Sam Amidon. Amidon has proven a knack for satisfyingly odd, virtuosic musical performance. Over the course of his 30-year recording career, Amidon has made versatility, curiosity, and virtuosity his hallmarks, attracting prominent collaborators in the fields of jazz (Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell), Irish traditional (Mairead Ni Mhagonaigh, Tommy Sands), gospel (The Blind Boys of Alabama), rock (Tune Yards, The National), and contemporary classical (the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Nico Muhly). He is likely best known for his original solo work, which expertly meshes folk idioms, modern harmony and inventive orchestration. There are two ways to access this event: 1. Dancing | Groove Along to Wide-Ranging Caribbean Tunes
The global ambassadors of konpa, Haiti's national dance music, bring their propulsive groove to the stage for an exuberant night of dance. Singing in English, Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole, Tabou Combo is one of the most recognized and enduring Caribbean bands in the world. Their international anthem "New York City" and a catalog of hits have made them cultural icons within the Haitian diaspora and beyond. Tabou Combo's 12 members share the wide-ranging sounds of the Caribbean. From konpa to rara (Haiti's Carnival music), to meringue, American funk, and West African-style soukous, Tabou Combo's sonic synthesis is bassy, brassy, percussive, and absolutely joy-filled.
