Dance Performance | MAJOR: Interdisciplinary Performance of Self-Discovery Inspired by Majorette Dance
Brooklyn-based dance, theater, and interdisciplinary artist Ogemdi Ude updates her celebrated work MAJOR for an outdoor space. The work explores the physicality and history of majorette dance—a fundamental relic of Black girlhood. Six Black femmes engage in majorette dance to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Experiments in improvised and verbatim language intertwine with a music score integrating Southern rap, horns, drumlines, and melodic R&B and soul by Lambkin.

Hear a blend of jazz harmonies, hip-hop grooves, and forward-thinking production from Orestes Gomez. Gomez is a dynamic performer creating music in the creative space where rhythm can evolve into a new sonic landscape. Gomez draws from the deep roots of his Afro-Caribbean and Venezuelan rhythmic traditions, placing traditional drums at the center of his musical identity. The result is a living bridge between past and present, a masterclass in honoring heritage while continuing to push toward futuristic sound and spontaneous improvisation. Gomez's latest album, 2026's No me fui porque quise, includes the smash-hit single "Invierno," featuring international superstar Sabino. Concert | NASA Artist-in-Residence Laurie Anderson Performs with Sexmob Jazz Quartet in the Park
Enjoy a concert from Laurie Anderson, who is best known as an early pioneer of electronic music, but her wildly diverse catalog of ambitious multimedia projects encompasses not only music but film, visual projections, dance, and spoken and written word. She holds a number of honorary doctorates, and in 2002, was appointed the first artist-in-residence of NASA. Her latest album, Amelia, released in 2024, comprises 22 tracks about the aviator Amelia Earhart's tragic last flight. "Republic of Love" is a collection of songs and stories about the current state of America, with some history thrown in. Backed by Sexmob, an instrumental jazz quartet that emerged from the Knitting Factory scene in the mid-'90s and known for raw improvisation and inventive arrangements, Anderson's performance also features the words and thoughts of many Americans, such as Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, John Cage, Gertrude Stein, William S. Burroughs, and Allen Ginsberg. Anderson herself calls the work "a celebration of freedom."

Musical | The Case of the Stranger: Tony-Nominated Director's Song Cycle Exploring Identity, Migration, & Kinship
Refugee. Alien. Immigrant. What are the terms we use to describe human lives? In a nearly forgotten passage from Sir Thomas More, Shakespeare uses a unique one: stranger. With a score rooted in soul, jazz, and diverse geographical soundworlds, The Case of the Stranger takes its title from a passage in Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More — one of the earliest known pleas for a compassionate refugee policy. The piece explores themes of identity, migration, and the power of unexpected kinship. Written by Whitney White Co-Directed by Whitney White and Maxim Pozdorovkin Cast: Rotana Tarabzouni, Veronica Otim, Whitney White Seating opens 30 minutes before showtime and is available on the grass or benches.
