Talk | Sawasdee, Somtum Der! Lessons in Thai Language and Cooking (virtual)


For the final installment of this Thai food and culture series, travel virtually to Thailand and learn some basic Thai phrases to help us get around. Titcha Ho, a PhD candidate and lecturer at the University at Albany and professional tutor and language consultant, will give a basic introduction to the Thai language. Then experience a live cooking demonstration from the Bangkok location of Somtum Der, a highly-acclaimed global restaurant group with two locations in New York City. Somtum Der CEO Tatchai Nakapan will share how his restaurants have brought Isan (northeastern Thailand) cuisine to a global audience, from Bangkok to Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City to Brooklyn.

Your one-stop-shop for a complete body and mind workout. Barre seamlessly blends moves from ballet, Pilates, strength training, and yoga. You will be guided through a series of micro-movements and active holds, using your body weight for resistance. These small, isolated movements yield extensive results: long, lean, sculpted lines. Sceurman has also traveled across the United States to seek out similar legends and paranormal hot spots, co-producing 40 books with Mark Moran proving that each state has its own share of strangeness to be told.
