One of the oldest continuously used city halls in the nation that still houses its original governmental functions, New York's City Hall is considered one of the finest architectural achievements of its period. Constructed from 1803 to 1812, the building was an early expression of the City's cosmopolitanism. Spoken-word poet and artist Abby Duran hosts a Narrative Poetry workshop! Get to know fellow participants in conversation, then compose a poem based on that conversation. This program's mission is to encourage poetry composition through active listening, breaking down the barriers that often obstruct the path of connection between people. Through the power of immersion, listening, and creativity, participants can find inspiration and camaraderie with fellow participants through their conversation and the subsequent poems created in this workshop.

Come on down and swing along to the best jazz the Big Apple has to offer, with musician Jon Weber. “Immensely gifted.” “Formidable talent.” “Phenomenal.” “Essential.” - The New York Times Jazz pianist Jon Weber has recorded and toured all over the world, winning numerous accolades for performance and composition, and scoring extensively for television since 1987. Jon stepped in to host NPR's Piano Jazz radio program, the station's longest-running cultural program, following host Marian McPartland's retirement; The Wall Street Journal sung Jon’s praises: "Most frequently seen across New York as the accompanist to any singer lucky enough to hire him, Jon Weber is best known to the rest of the country as the worthy successor to the late Marian McPartland on the NPR staple Piano Jazz."

Film-noir drama about a New York City detective with a violent streak who gets involved in the accidental killing of a murder suspect and the subsequent cover-up, which leads to implicating an innocent cab driver. Director: Otto Preminger Cast: Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney, Gary Merrill Gene Tierney was an American stage and film actress. Acclaimed for her great beauty, Tierney was a prominent leading lady during the Golden Age of Hollywood. For her role in Leave Her to Heaven (1945), she earned a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Darryl F. Zanuck, co-founder of 20th Century Fox, said Tierney was "unquestionably, the most beautiful woman in movie history."

Film | Lola (1961): French Romantic Drama from Jacques Demy
Described by Demy as "a musical without music," a tale of crisscrossing lives in Nantes. A bored young man meets with his former girlfriend, now a cabaret dancer and single mother, and soon finds himself falling back in love with her. Director: Jacques Demy Cast: Anouk Aimée, Marc Michel, Alan Scott, Jacques Harden, Margo Lion Jacques Demy was a French filmmaker and lyricist. He appeared at the height of the French New Wave. Demy's films are celebrated for their visual style, which drew upon diverse sources such as classic Hollywood musicals, the plein-air realism of his French New Wave colleagues, fairy tales, jazz, Japanese manga, and the opera. His films contain overlapping continuity (i.e., characters cross over from film to film), lush musical scores (typically composed by Michel Legrand), and motifs like teenage love, labor rights, chance encounters, incest, and the intersection between dreams and reality. Dancing | Dance Along to the Sonic Spirit of Branzilian Forró Music
Baia Toca Forró highlights the work of acclaimed singer-songwriter Maurício Baia. With over 13 albums, and major festival performances, the Rio de Janeiro-based artist blends traditional sounds from Brazil with contemporary rock and pop. Baia's most recent album, Batidas do Coração, focuses on forró, a northeastern dance form and musical genre that centers on accordion, zabumba (bass drum), and metal triangle. Baia brings this Brazilian party to the dance floor in a forró concert featuring original works and classics by the genre’s leaders, such as Luiz Gonzaga and Alceu Valença.
