You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. It’s a modern American musical mosaic that recently earned the group’s debut recording a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album. Alongside Ross, the APQ features Falu, an 11th-generation Hindustani classical vocalist; Moto Fukushima, an internationally acclaimed jazz bassist; and Koleby Royston, an emerging jazz drummer with chops and artistry rooted in African American church traditions.

An evening of works that span three centuries, performed by the Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center. Bask in Adolphus Hailstork’s Sonata da Chiesa, which draws on tradition while speaking in his distinctly modern voice. Richard Strauss’s Duett-Concertino follows, featuring soloists from the orchestra—Principal clarinetist Jon Manasse and Principal bassoonist Marc Goldberg— in a musical dialogue. Ethel Smyth’s Symphony for Small Orchestra reveals the sweeping imagination and dramatic flair of a composer whose music is enjoying a resurgence. The program concludes with Haydn’s Symphony No. 100, the “Military,” a crowd-pleasing tour de force famous for its celebratory fanfares, bold percussion, and jubilant spirit—bringing the evening to a thrilling close.
