In the summer of 1968, a young reporter in Memphis vowed to one day write the story of Martin Luther King Jr.'s last hours. Joseph Rosenbloom spent nearly a decade interviewing people connected to the events of that fateful day. In his new book, Redemption, the city of Memphis, the Lorraine Hotel, and the various social and political forces that were at work in '68 are recounted in vivid detail. Together with archival materials, police records, and government transcripts, Rosenbloom pieces together the last thirty-one hours and twenty-eight minutes of King’s life.  Rosenbloom, a former Frontline investigative reporter, will discuss Dr. King's life and legacy with author, journalist, and activist Herb Boyd. Registration does not guarantee admission. Priority will be given to those who have registered in advance. The Program Room opens at 6 PM.

Resurfacing at a bitter moment of renewed xenophobia, this book by Rachel Buff recounts the tale of the American Committee for the Protection of the Foreign Born, which worked against what they called “the deportation terror” for much of the 21st century. These stories speak urgently to the current moment of glacial repression and resurgent organizing.
