Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. If you are classical music afficionado, you can spend whole day in New York going from one free classical concert to another. If you love theater, then New York gives you an option to attend plays and musicals free of charge, or at deep discount. You just need to have information about it. Workshop | Deep Yoga and Journaling


Sharyn Hahn lead you through some warm-up poses and a vinyasa flow as well as several short meditations, creative visualization, and intention-setting writing or sketching activities. You will leave feeling more flexible, relaxed, energized, with a mantra that you can carry with you throughout the week. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one, and they do have some if you need to borrow one for the class. Also bring a journal and something to write with. You will be writing a few times during the class, and if you prefer to sketch or want to do both, that is fine. Wear comfortable clothing, and feel free to bring a warm or cool drink to keep you hydrated (with a secure lid). All levels are welcome. If you have never done yoga you will be able to participate as well.

Flat terrain, moderate pace, 4-5 hours, approximate distance 5-7 miles. Walk along boardwalk to Manhattan Beach. Bring lunch/water and bathing suit, if you wish to go in the water. Tour | Flatiron District Walking Tour


A journey through the vibrant neighborhood, viewing some of the City’s most notable landmarks, including the New York Life Insurance Building, the MetLife Clock Tower, the Appellate Courthouse and the famous Flatiron Building. Workshop | Community Rowing


No experience is necessary though rowing does require some physical dexterity. Community Rowing events are free sessions that include a basic introduction to rowing for first timers (safety orientation, rowing technique, and terminology) and of course plenty of actual rowing on the Hudson River. The rows take place in five-person wooden rowboats built on site. The rows last, depending on river conditions and crew experience, between one and three hours. Please arrive on-time as the crews will be assigned before 1PM. Bring extra water, a hat, and sunscreen as you will be rowing outdoors in the hot sun. Rowing is weather dependent and will be canceled for high winds, rain, or thunderstorms. All participants must sign a waiver and be able to climb a ladder. Every Sunday from June 10-October 21, 2018.

Tour | Environmental Justice in Gowanus Tour


Duration: 1.5 hours. Distance: 1 mile. Gowanus is an intensely contaminated community that is simultaneously undergoing multiple processes of environmental remediation and gentrification. The tour will explore these dynamics and the challenges and opportunities posed by the Gowanus Canal Superfund Clean Up, the rapid disappearance of commercial establishments and services that are affordable to low and moderate-income households and the recently announced housing authority plan to build market-rate apartments at Wyckoff Gardens. You will also learn about the Turning the Tide initiative, a multi-neighborhood effort that focuses on building social and environmental resiliency in five Brooklyn public housing developments in the face of climate change. Tour | Gentrification in Williamsburg Tour


This two-hour tour of Williamsburg highlights two main themes: Gentrification and Environmental Justice. Williamsburg offers an extreme example of both of these broader themes, and thus makes a very interesting case-study neighborhood in which to delve into these issues. The roots of gentrification and the detailed history of the cause of such rapid change will be covered in depth. This tour gives participants detailed information that will enable them to understand the topic of gentrification, why it is happening, its history, who benefits, and what is driving it. Festival | The Hot Dog Bus hands out free hot dogs


Artist Erwin Wurm has transformed a vintage Volkswagen Microbus into an overstuffed food truck serving free dogs! It's an absurd, yet approachable art experience that will encourage visitors to rethink the fundamental definitions of sculpture. Wurm's choice of the hot dog hints at the gastronomic connections between the City’s most iconic street food and his Austrian homeland, while he considers the act of eating to be an additive sculptural process in its own right.

Annabella Gonzalez Dance Theater, a critically acclaimed modern dance company with a sly Latin flavor, is delighted to present “Lively Moods.” Dances range from “Tengo Un Amor” (I Have a Love), with powerful Mexican songs by Lucha Reyes, to “Love Mask,” a comedy to music of Mozart with surprise audience participation. Featured are three new dances: “Caballeros,” danced by Marcos de Jesus with his original tunes and lyrics, accompanied by drummer Wilson Antigua; “New Born,” created and performed by Nu-Lu Danza directors Esteban Arana and Leticia Pliego together with Jamy Hsu; and “Inner Pulse,” a vibrant quintet featuring a gong-accented score by acclaimed neo-classical composer Max Lifchitz.

In fair Verona, the long-standing feud between families Montague and Capulet cause tragic results for their respective children, Romeo and Juliet. After meeting at a masked ball, Romeo and Juliet fall in love, only to discover the surname of their beloved. Revenge, love, and a secret marriage force the lovers to take drastic measures. In the end, both families learn the perils of needless violence. This summer will bring to life one of Shakespeare's most well known tragedies in a dynamic adaptationt. Concert | Nicky Siano's Hallelujah Disco with Harlem Gospel Choir and Tony Award Winner Melba Moore


Disco was a social and cultural revolution, and Nicky Siano was there from the beginning. In this multi-media event, Nicky tells the story of the NYC dance music scene from Stonewall to Studio 54. The show features seasoned R&B artist Melba Moore and The Harlem Gospel Choir singing danceable gospel songs, interwoven with the story as told through pictures, video and interviews with such notables as Frankie Knuckles and David Mancusco. “Hallelujah Disco” is a celebration of New York City, The Seventies, and Gay Rights, written and directed by Nicky Siano, and produced by Siano with Rebecca Lynn. Learn the history of NYC Nightlife, while the Disco Gospel Classics are performed live. The Illustrious Blacks, known for their highly praised live shows that fuse music, dance, theater, fashion and more, will open with a DJ set.

Jazz | A jazzman who performed with Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and on Broadway


Jeff Scott, french horn, has performed numerous times with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. Mr. Scott's performance credits are many and varied. They include The Lion King orchestra on Broadway,1997-2005, and other Broadway shows such as On the Town and Showboat. He has been a member of the Alvin Ailey and Dance Theater of Harlem orchestras since 1995. Mr. Scott's arranging and composing credits are many, and include scoring the off-Broadway production of Becoming Something, The Canada Lee Story, a staged production of Josephine Baker: A Life of Le Jazz Hot, and many arrangements and original works for classical, and jazz ensembles.
