You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Dance Lesson | Learn Flamenco


Teacher Arielle Rosales will create a joyful, lively, and low-stakes environment to explore this extraordinary art form.  In 3 workshops (Morning Series 8/15, 8/22, and 8/29 - Afternoon Series 8/10, 8/17, and 8/24), participants will learn about the history and culture of Flamenco, try out its foundational footwork, handwork and armwork, and incorporate some signature Flamenco props. Each workshop will build on the steps learned in the previous session and lead to the goal of creating an original Flamenco group combination. Requirements to participate: You must register for each individual session you wish to attend Comfortable clothing and footwear should be worn Please arrive 15 minutes early to the class Participants must bring a release form filled out and signed to every session they plan to attend About the Instructor Arielle Rosales is a Bessie Award-nominated dancer, choreographer, and educator. Her multidisciplinary work interweaves the worlds of flamenco, percussion, and improvisation to explore concepts of duende. She has been dubbed, "Excitingly rhythmic and undoubtedly seductive" by Dance Informa Magazine, and "A very intense and wonderful choreographic talent" by Broadway World. Her choreography has been featured in Man of La Mancha (Shakespeare Theater Company, Washington D.C.), The Latin Quarter Show (REVEL Casino & Resort, Atlantic City), and as the Flamenco Consultant for Mrs. Doubtfire on Broadway. Arielle has been a faculty member of STEPS on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center, and is a current teaching artist with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana and New York City Center. She is a co-founding member of the 2022 New York Times Critic's Pick percussive dance trio Soles of Duende, as well as a band member & conductor with the all-women Afro-Brazilian ensemble Batalan New York.

As paleoclimatologist Jack Hall is in Antartica, he discovers that a huge ice sheet has sheared off. But what he does not know is that this event will trigger a massive climate shift that will affect the world population. Meanwhile, his son Sam is with friends in New York City to attend an event. There, they discover that it has been raining non-stop for the past three days, and after a series of weather-related disasters begin to occur all over the world, everybody realizes the world is about to enter a new Ice Age and the world population begins trying to evacuate to the warmer climates of the south. Jack makes a daring attempt to rescue his son and his friends who are stuck in New York City and who have managed to survive not only a massive wave but also freezing cold temperatures that could possibly kill them. Discussion | Religion and Literature in Dialogue: a Five Session Course


Religion is a multi-faceted phenomenon that includes doctrines, stories, rituals, and communal practices. What happens when a poet or novelist appropriates a story from the Bible, a teaching, or liturgical practice from Christianity or Judaism and reshapes it according to her or his own imagination? How do writers exercise poetic license with religion, affirming some parts of it while pushing back on others? In this five-part class students look at five themes of perennial interest to Christianity and Judaism—love, death, evil, suffering, and forgiveness—that have also intrigued poets, novelists, essayists, and short-story writers. Students will read excerpts from the Bible, the liturgy, and theology in comparison with creative writing from Homer to John Donne to Emily Dickinson to Mary Gordon, among many others. Each class will turn on a small anthology of texts from the worlds of religion and literature arranged to invite comparison and contrast. Professor Ernie Rubinstein holds a PhD in comparative religion from Northwestern University. He is author of the book, Religion and the Muse: The Vexed Relation Between Religion and Western Literature (SUNY Press, 2007). He has taught in NYU’s School of Professional Studies since 1995. This class is adapted from another course he regularly teaches there on the same topic. Please register! Limit of 15 students!

Discussion | The History of Antisemitism: The Truths and Mysteries of Leo Frank (online)


Leo Frank was a pencil factory superintendent in Georgia in April 1913 when his coworker, thirteen-year-old Mary Phagan, was murdered. Her body was found in the factory's basement, and Frank was convicted of the crime and sentenced to death. Many since have examined the case and posited that Frank was denied a fair trial and unjustly convicted amid a wave of antisemitic fervor - it was this fervor that spurred a mob of people to storm the prison and lynch Frank on August 17, 1915. Frank is the only Jew known to be murdered in this way in American history. Frank's case has since become the subject of multiple investigations and alleged-coverups, not to mention books, movies, and the current Broadway revival of the musical Parade.

Concert | A Musical Prescription with Grammy and Oscar Winner Jon Batiste


Jon Batiste performs as part of a special night kicking off the new academic year by gathering together as a community and exploring the power of music as medicine. A brilliant and accomplished musician who received both a B.A. and M.F.A. from The Juilliard School, Batiste has been making music history throughout his career. For his work with fellow composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, he won an Academy Award for Best Original Score for the Disney/Pixar film Soul in 2020. He is only the second Black composer, after legendary jazz musician Herbie Hancock, to win an Academy Award for composition. Batiste was nominated for eleven Grammys across seven different categories for his album, We Are. He went on to win five of those Grammys, including Album of the Year. Most recently, he was awarded an Emmy in the category of “Outstanding Open/Tease” for his 2022 NCAA March Madness piece. Batiste’s latest studio album, World Music Radio, draws inspiration from his mission to create community and expand culture with the power of music. In addition to his prolific recording career, he also served as the bandleader and musical director of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS from 2015 until 2022.
