A new chamber opera by Pulitzer Prize finalist Alex Weiser with libretto by Ben Kaplan tells the story of Yiddish linguist Yudel Mark's unfinished effort to create a comprehensive Yiddish dictionary. With mystical and historical figures interwoven, the opera reflects on the resilience of Yiddish culture in the aftermath of the Holocaust and the transformative power of language. Performed by tenor Jason Weisinger, baritone Gideon Dabi, and mezzo sopranos Kristin Gornstein, Kate Maroney, and Kelly Guerra. An ensemble of clarinet, string quintet, and piano led by conductor David Bloom. Directed by Rebecca Miller Kratzer.
