Artists Spica Wobbe and Margaret Yuen present Prologue Part III, a new chapter in their ongoing puppet-theater project that transforms real-life stories into intimate shadow performances.
This moving work traces the journeys of five first-generation Chinese immigrant men who arrived in New York City between 1962 and 1990, set against the backdrop of the Cultural Revolution, the rise of overseas study, and the Tiananmen Square protests.
Through the delicate interplay of light, shadow, and object theater, their stories unfold as a poetic reflection on courage, resilience, and the pursuit of belonging. The program includes a drop-in shadow puppetry workshop for families (2–3 PM), followed by a performance and Q&A.
