Workshop | Taking Street Photography from Camera to Print

Documentary photographer and serial photobook maker, Daniel Milnor, leads a lesson in getting your images out of your hard drive and into your hands. While taking, sharing, and viewing street photography is more 'easily' accessible than ever before, leaving that work as ones and zeros usually means a lot is left unseen, even by the photographers themselves.  Daniel will walk the group through his editing ideology, not of an individual image, but bodies of work. As well as utilizing the Instax Wide Evo for output and creative capture. The group will be delving into several bodies of Daniel's imagery and the publications created with them. From notebooks, to personal journals, to print-on-demand magazines: we'll explore the importance of giving physical form to our photos, and in turn, giving that work permanence.

Performance | Retrospective on Pioneering Ukrainian Modernist Playwright (with Live Readings, Conversation, & More)

At this event, stage directors Virlana Tkacz and Rory Pelsue will explore how Ukrainka might be reimagined for the contemporary stage—and why her fierce, psychologically charged plays offer such rich possibilities for directors, actors, and producers. In The Blue Rose, Cassandra, and more, playwright Lesia Ukrainka's dramas wrestle with gender, war, desire, power, and the dangerous cost of speaking the truth. Lesia Ukrainka (1871–1913) was a pioneering Ukrainian modernist, playwright, poet, and feminist intellectual. A contemporary of Henrik Ibsen and Anton Chekhov, she explored many of the same social and psychological tensions while offering a distinctly female perspective. Her complex heroines resist social expectations, challenge male authority, and insist on their intellectual, political, and personal freedom.
