Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. If you are classical music afficionado, you can spend whole day in New York going from one free classical concert to another. If you love theater, then New York gives you an option to attend plays and musicals free of charge, or at deep discount. You just need to have information about it. This tour utilizes your feet and the New York City Subway* to transport you from Lower Manhattan, the birthplace of New York, through Wall St and the Financial District, Greenwich Village, SoHo, Chinatown and Midtown Manhattan. Bloomingdale Neighborhood History Group Presents Warping Maps, from the antique to the digital – the Upper West Side in maps. Presented by Matt Knutzen, Geospatial Librarian at NYPL. An NEH grant has allowed NYPL’s Lionel Pincus & Princess Firyal Map Division to scan, digitize and mesh with the current grid, thousands of antique maps, from the Dutch period, to American Revolutionary maps, to 19th and early 20th century property maps. Matt will share news of this highly successful project, in which the public is invited to participate, with samples of some Upper West Side maps in this mapping update effort.

NYC Alternative Guitar Festival founder/guitarist/composer Joel Harrison (Nels Cline, Norah Jones, Uri Caine, Dewey Redman), guitarist/composer Cristian Amigo (Elliot Sharp, Eve Beglarian, Wadada Leo Smith), and drummer/composer Andrew Drury (Jason Kao Hwang, Steve Swell Trio) team up for their first improvised collaboration in a bass-less trio that is sure to reimagine world/roots music. Guitarist Tor Snyder (Bob Moses, Kenwood Denard, John Medeski) brings his singular, from-another-planet sound that he channels through a Moog guitar.
