You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Concert | Pipes at One Concert


The mechanical-action pipe organ of the church was built in 1964 by the Schlicker Organ Company of Buffalo, New York, and re-built by the Andover Organ Company of Methuen, Massachusetts in 1981. It boasts the oldest pipe organ case in New York City, made of mahogany and dating from 1802, and contains 1,632 pipes. Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center situated directly across the street from St. Paul’s, the organ was silenced, but has since been partially cleaned and made payable by Mann & Trupiano organ-builders from Brooklyn. The organ is featured weekly in live broadcasts on WWFM of “Bach at One” liturgical presentations by the Trinity Choir and Trinity Baroque Orchestra. Joanna Hershon is the author of four novels, A Dual Inheritance, Swimming, The Outside of August, and The German Bride. Her writing has appeared in (among other places) One Story, The Virginia Quarterly Review, the literary anthologies Brooklyn Was Mine and Freud’s Blind Spot, and was shortlisted for the 2007 O. Henry Prize Stories. Teddy Wayne is the author of the novels The Love Song of Jonny Valentine and Kapitoil, for which he was the winner of a 2011 Whiting Writers' Award, the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize runner-up, and a New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Award, and Dayton Literary Peace Prize. The recipient of an NEA Creative Writing Fellowship, his work regularly appears in The New Yorker, the New York Times, Vanity Fair, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, McSweeney's and elsewhere.

Screening | Brazilian Documentary: Hebe Mattos & Martha Abreu's A Present Past: Afro-Brazilian Memories in Rio de Janeiro (2012)


This documentary highlights the strong oral tradition of slave descendants from the former plantations of the Souza Breves family, in the south of the state of Rio de Janeiro in Brazli. It rescues vivid details about the illegal trade of slaves and the experiences of slaves and freed ancestors. The jongo and oral tradition are part of the cultural and family heritage that became a core aspect of the 'maroon' identity of these communities. Both support broader political struggles against racism and contribute to ensuring collective ownership of land. 43 min.
