City Walk | Greenwich Village Tour

Greenwich Village is among Manhattan's most desirable and expensive residential neighborhoods. It's history, however, betrays it's monied status. The Village, with it's quiet, shaded streets, lined with lovely brick and brownstone townhouses, was once the incubating ground of artistic, social and political movements that have helped shape US history. From the Beats to the Folk Movement, from workers rights to gay rights, the Village has often been the center of it all.

Master Class | Eyes of the Masters featuring Grammy Nominee Robert Glasper

The Eyes of the Masters series is a special class where legendary artists share their experiences, knowledge and insights into the world of music both as an art form and as a business. “Real music is crash protected,” state the liner notes of Black Radio, the most current album by the Robert Glasper Experiment and Grammy Award nominee, that boldly stakes out new musical territory and transcends any notion of genre, drawing from jazz, hip-hop, R&B and rock, but refusing to be pinned down by any one tag. Robert Glasper has long kept one foot planted firmly in jazz and the other in hip-hop and R&B. He’s worked extensively with Q-Tip, playing keyboards on the rapper’s 2008 album The Renaissance and co-writing the album single “Life Is Better” which featured his label mate Norah Jones. Glasper also serves as the music director in yasiin bey’s touring band, and has toured with the multi-platinum R&B singer Maxwell.

Discussion | Is There a Literature of Multilinguality?

You can speak of a literature of multilingualism when taking into account the movement of words, terms, and even grammatical structures from one language to another. But also when authors switch from their mother tongue to a written language that requires them to paraphrase what cannot be translated directly, a process that reveals to them the blind spots of perception in both languages. With Barbara Frischmuth, Claudio Magris, and Norman Manea.

City Walk | The High Line Sunset Tour

The area around the High Line Park was a vital business district of New York City, supplying fresh fruits, French Cheeses and Russian caviar as well as fresh meats to City markets.
