You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. City Walk | 43rd Great Manhattan Bridge Walk


34 miles. For the first time ever, they will be walking over every pedestrian-friendly bridge on the perimeter of Manhattan Borough, not Manhattan Island. Starting with the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn, they will proceed counterclockwise around Manhattan and end with the George Washington Bridge into New Jersey. Without public transportation, this route totals to about 34 miles in length. Main group will be moderately paced with lots of history and an optional fast group if people want it. Bring or buy lunch.

They’ll introduce you to basic rowing techniques and get you out on the water. Bonus: explore the beautiful boathouse on tours being offered throughout the day. Those interested in participating can simply stop by for this family-friendly event for land-based and water-based rowing sessions and boathouse tours. An in-depth look at the unique architecture and exquisite beauty of the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House. Designed by famed architect Cass Gilbert and completed in 1907, the Custom House is a National Historic Landmark. The building’s interior splendor includes an elliptical rotunda with a 140-ton dome skylight designed by Valencia-born engineer Raphael Gustavino and murals by New York painter Reginald Marsh, as well as monumental marble arches and columns. Tours include a visit to the Collectors Office, not normally accessible to the public. Takes place daily.

In celebration of Black Music Month, a successful CEO, Music Mogul and recording artist, Michael Bivins will share his unique perspective on the business, experiences and future plans with Damon Williams, Chairman of the Rhythm & Blues Foundation. Michael's achievements in business and music include being the founding member of the R&B group New Edition (BET's The New Edition Story) and the hip hop group Bell Biv DeVoe ("Poison"). He also the launched the music careers of R&B groups Boyz II Men, Another Bad Creation and 702, all of whom were signed to his Motown distributed label Biv 10 Records. Michael continues to shine in business with various ventures operating under his Sportyrich Enterprises company.

Festival | World Science Festival: Stargazing and an Interactive Performance Piece


The World Science Festival brings stargazing back this year along with UP - Umbrella Project, an amazing participatory performance piece by Pilobolus. Attendees can take a look through WSF’s high-tech telescopes for an up-close view of the moon, Jupiter, and other celestial objects. Then, grab an LED-lighted umbrella and jump into Umbrella Project. UP - Umbrella Project, a collaboration between MIT’s Distributed Robotics Laboratory and performance arts organization Pilobolus, invites visitors to take part in a unique performance piece. Armed with controllable LED-lighted umbrellas, participants will form colorful constellations and patterns that they can see in real-time on a birds-eye perspective projection nearby. Umbrella Project demonstrates through stunning visuals and surprising interactivity that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
