Staged Reading | In Love with the Arrow Collar Man

In Love with the Arrow Collar Man focuses on the intertwined lives of artist J.C. Leyendecker (1874-1951) and his model, muse, and life partner, Charles Beach. The play recounts the true story of a pioneering long-term gay couple whose life together spanned nearly half a century. Leyendecker’s immense popularity came primarily from his 322 covers for the Saturday Evening Post, as well as for the innovative use of his art in advertising – most notably the Arrow Collar Man, with Beach as the original model. The play explores the challenge of balancing love, art, and commerce at a time when homosexuality was a crime, and how Leyendecker achieved an unlikely triumph on all fronts. Arrow Collar Man also chronicles Leyendecker's relationships with two fellow artists: his talented but self-destructive brother Frank; and Norman Rockwell, the protégé who surpassed him in fame. Concert | Musician-Poet from Patagonia

Julián Muro is a singer/guitarist born in Patagonia, Argentina but his permanent travels during the past 5 years have shaped his life into that of a “citizen of the world”. A contemporary troubadour, a naturalist and a traveler, his music is the result of the encounter between at least two personalities, the one of a singer-songwriter-poet and the one of a composer-producer-researcher. When these converge on the stage, the results are enchantingly hypnotic.

Concert | Aimee Mann, Grammy-Winning Pop Singer-Songwriter

Aimee Mann is one of contemporary pop's most inventive and erudite singer-songwriters. Since the 1980s she has perfected her art in many contexts: as a Grammy-winning solo recording artist, a composer for theater and film, and a musical collaborator. Her songwriting balances the literary and the personal with intense wit and empathetic emotion. In this career retrospective, she plays songs that span her career and discusses them with NPR Music's Ann Powers. Mann reveals her inspirations, shares stories from her long career, and discusses her life as a working artist who has always remained true to herself. Jonathan Coulton opens the show with an eclectic catalog of masterful songwriting on subjects from zombies and mad scientists to sad parents and dissatisfied software engineers. He's written songs for The Good Fight and Braindead TV series, as well as the Portal video games and Spongebob Squarepants: The Broadway Musical. He was the house musician for the NPR show Ask Me Another and is the host and namesake of an annual floating nerd convention called JoCo Cruise.
