Famous from the 1997 hit One Headlight, The Wallflowers is the brainchild of guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist Jakob Dylan. After honing their signature hard-hitting sound and timeless storytelling for more than 30 years, The Wallflowers bring a “throwback” quality to their style of rock music while pushing the genre forward. treya lam opens the night with their strident voice, politically-charged songwriting, and multi-instrumental mastery. Themes of grief and social justice permeate lam’s work, demanding an active and empathetic listener.

About the Artists
For the past 30 years, The Wallflowers has stood as one of rock’s most dynamic and purposeful bands – a unit dedicated to and continually honing a sound that meshes timeless songwriting and storytelling with a hard-hitting and decidedly modern musical attack. That signature style has been present through the decades, baked into the grooves of smash hits like 1996’s Bringing Down the Horse as well as more recent and exploratory fare like 2012’s Glad All Over.

treya lam is a multi-instrumentalist and composer whose expansive and intersecting identities inform but do not define their work, whether solo or when collaborating with ensembles across a variety of disciplines. Their atmospheric voice, liberation oriented songwriting, and fluency on guitar, piano, and looped viola recalls Nina Simone and Andrew Bird. treya’s debut, Good News, was created entirely by women and genderqueer collaborators and released via Kaki King’s label. Smithsonian Magazine states lam’s work “perfectly captures the mixture of love, loss, and hope.”
