The Big Umbrella Festival centers audiences by sharing unique approaches to multi-sensory, interactive, and engaging artistic experiences, designed with and for neurodiverse audiences. This summer, the celebrated festival returns as a day-long campus takeover full of relaxed spaces with multi-sensory experiences, performances, installations, and workshops specifically welcoming neurodivergent audiences and their families.Attendees have the ability to drop-in throughout the day, experiencing as much or as little as they’d like. You're invited to a full-day of artistic programs for Big Umbrella Day. Please explore the schedule and attend as many experiences as you'd like. Each event is General Admission—first-come, first-served. 10:30 am–7:00 pm: Make the Welcome Center your first stop of the day, and pick up your campus map and visual schedule. A team member will be available for questions and guidance. 11:00 am-5:30 pm (every half hour): Participate in an engaging movement workshop, designed for all ages and abilities. 11:00 am-6:00 pm: Create your own artwork at one of the visual art stations, guided by teaching artists. The visual art stations will be accessible to all ages and abilities and will be available throughout the day. 11:30 am-12:10 pm, 1:00 pm–1:40 pm, 2:30 pm–3:10 pm, 4:00 pm–4:40 pm: All Smiles: This delightful show explores how all smiles are unique. 12:00 pm–1:00 pm: The Latin Grammy-nominated songstress Sonia De Los Santos shares stories of her joyful childhood in Mexico with music inspired by the rich diversity of NYC and beyond. Her wholehearted bilingual performance promotes hope, peace, and connection and inspires children to follow their dreams. 6:00 pm–7:30 pm: Access Silent Disco With Nico DiMarco: Hit The Dance Floor for an accessible Silent Disco with Nico DiMarco, a third generation Deaf person who relies on feeling the beat of the music to DJ.
