The complete series of 22 framed works of this well-known series of paintings. Keith Haring (1958-1990) ... more >> collaborated on the Apocalypse series with the Beat Era poet and author, William S. Burroughs (1914-1997), who wrote the introduction along with correlating texts to each of the 10 screenprints that Haring created. The series was completed in 1988, the same year that Haring was diagnosed with AIDS. Read in conjunction with Burroughs’ poetic words describing scenes of chaos, the prints act as a visual commentary about the AIDS crisis, illustrating the duality of life and death, heaven and hell, good and evil. These prints are a testament to Haring’s bold line work, use of color, and his meticulous eye for composition, resulting in collages that include religious, art historical ,and 1950s magazine imagery with scenes of urban destruction, modern technology, and monsters.

If artistic production generates its own forms of excretion, Best by borrows from the language of a system that organizes such distinctions: product packaging, where expiry dates sort the viable from the expired. These dates make disposal feel inevitable and predetermined, as though an object’s ending was written the moment of its making. The art world is no exception to expiry logic. In a climate of rising costs, contracting budgets, and institutional retrenchment, galleries are shedding artists and staff, recalibrating toward the marketable—what some might call a search for the institution's "soul.” Yet it is rarely the boldfaced names that go. Biennials and art fair cycles operate on the same logic, determining who and what is current, emerging, and relevant—and by extension, what has been spent.

Since 2018, the Hudson River has been the focus of the Oakes' most ambitious body of work. Painted from a fixed vantage point overlooking the river in Newburgh, New York, the series is executed on three-dimensional concave canvases shaped to approximate the spherical geometry of human vision, or more simply, the curvature of of an eyeball. Beginning in 2004, the Oakes have pioneered a distinctive method of painting on curved canvases, investigating perception, space, and light. In this series, they introduce a fourth dimension: time. Each painting is made entirely en plein air over eleven consecutive days. Beginning each morning and working until sundown, the artists complete a single two-inch-wide vertical section, recording the precise atmospheric conditions of that day. Freezing rain, dense fog, brilliant sunlight, shifting winds, and still water become embedded within a single image. The completed painting is not a frozen instant, but a chronology—a landscape accumulated through time. Seen together, these works reveal the tension between permanence and transience. Geography remains fixed while weather, light, and season continually transform it.

This work of documentary theater with music explores the intersections of Creole culture and identity between the geographically distant communities of Reunion Island, New Orleans, and Puerto Rico through music, storytelling, and projections. Plot Summary: Reunion Island. While a cyclone rages, a man curses his name before throwing himself into the Indian Ocean. He has no idea what repercussions this action will have on the other side of the world. From Puerto Rico to New Orleans, Creole peoples will unite to teach him his true history. Five languages are spoken on stage, and nearly a dozen instruments are played, fusing maloya, bomba, and Mardi Gras Indians songs. The piece explores themes of memory, identity, resilience, connection, and cultural transmission through the prism of the Creole experience. It shines a light on the richness of Creole cultures and their capacity to overcome historical oppression.

The performance features an exciting roster of rising stars, including Yair Keydar, the 13-year-old Star Search veteran; Yosef Kogan, the 13-year-old violin prodigy who has performed at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, and the Prague String Festival; The Mamales, a dynamic trio of young women singers who met while performing Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish; Riki Rose, a Yiddish singer, songwriter, comedian from Williamsburg's Satmar community; Margot Weintraub, the young actress and singer best known for roles in the Amazon series Hunters and Sarah Silverman's Off-Broadway show The Bedwetter; and special guests The Shvesters, a dazzling and distinctive duo that transform classic Yiddish melodies into new jazz arrangements. Serving as masters of ceremony are the stars of the Canadian web series YidLife Crisis, collaborating with Frank London's Klezmer All Stars, a brass group that blends Yiddish, Hasidic music, and Klezmer with electronic beats.

The NYC premiere of Liverman's latest large-scale composition, Songs of Humanity & Peace, integrates dance from choreographer/performer Amina Vargas, unique illustrations from visual artist Marcela Avelar, and musical accompaniment from Grammy-nominated pianist Adam Tendler. Lyrical poetry crafted by Liverman, Jonathan King, Tesia Kwarteng, and Sara Teasdale anchors this ambitious, nine-movement song cycle. An optimistic musical exploration into finding meaning in the small things can evoke our humanity, helping us move forward collectively and in beauty. There are two ways to access this event: 1.
