Don Juan has abandoned Elvira, whom he seduced into breaking her vows and marrying him. Over the course of a single adventure-filled day, he and his loyal sidekick, Sganarelle, encounter many of the people Don Juan has betrayed. As he seduces women, defies social conventions, mocks religion, and revels in provocation, his appetite for transgression seems impossible to satisfy. Yet the signs are unmistakable: the walls are closing in. Will he truly repent? Or will he just pretend to, like so many around him, and continue down the same path to the bitter end? In addition to being the leader of the Bertha Hope Trio, she has re-formed the Bertha Hope 5tet. As composer and arranger of several recordings her works include: In Search of Hope and Elmo’s Fire; Between Two Kings and her latest, Nothin’ But Love. She has been honored by the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, and continues to work.

Workshop | Handsewing 101: Build a Mindful, Creative Hobby
A class on sewing by hand using traditional handsewing techniques. For most of human history, people have created stuff from fabric and fibers by hand. Almost everything we can sew using a machine can be done by hand. It just takes a little more mindfulness, patience, time, and a few simple tools and techniques to begin. Participants will learn about the tools needed for handsewing, the various types of stitches used in hand sewing, the terminology, basic fabric information, and more. You will also get an opportunity to practice what you have learned in the class by sewing a small project that can be completed during the session. No prior experience necessary. No need to purchase anything. All materials will be provided for the class. Just come in and start your journey to becoming a sewists. Handsewing, sometimes called slow stitching, can be a mindful hobby that allows you to slowly create beautiful and quality items in our fast-paced world.

Screening | 9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero (2026) -- Documentary (+ DIscussion)
A special screening of a new documentary that looks at how a city came together to remember and rebuild after the worst tragedy in its history. After the 9/11 attacks, once the smoke cleared and the rubble was removed, New Yorkers faced a fundamental question: who gets to decide the future of Ground Zero? Some wanted the towers back, while others believed the site should remain a memorial. So the city decided to do one of the bravest--or stupidest--things in the history of city planning. They gathered 5,000 representative New Yorkers into the largest town hall in American history. People expected chaos, yelling, maybe even a fistfight. But what happened was democracy. And guess what? It was beautiful. Director: J.B. Sabey There will be a guided discussion after the screening, offering a chance for the audience to share their thoughts, reflections, and memories on how our neighborhoods were impacted.

Workshop | Origami Group Meet-Up
This event is for people to come together and share in the beautiful art of Origami--an ancient art of folding various mediums, most commonly paper. The word comes from the combination of the Japanese verb oru (to fold) and the noun kami (paper). Other materials often folded are fabric, wire mesh, sheet metal, tissue, thin plastic, cardboard, and straws.This group meets to teach each other new models and share paper, books, and tips. This meeting is free and open to all level of folders from beginner to advanced. There will be free paper available to share. You may choose to bring your own paper and books and just show up and fold! If you have models you would like to learn, or teach, let the organizers know, and they will try our best to accommodate.

Book Discussion | Postcolonial & Cinema Scholar Discusses the Transnational Origins of Filmmaking
An illustrated talk by Michael Allan. Michael Allan draws on his new book, Cinema Before the World: The Global Routes of the Lumiere Brothers, to talk about the transnational origins of filmmaking by focusing on a case study in world cinema--the 1896-1897 voyage of one of the Lumiere Brothers camera operators, Alexandre Promio, across North Africa and the Middle East. The book shows how the sites in these early films are not simply backdrops, but integral to film form and its global history. The talk will be accompanied by rare moving footage shot in North Africa and the Middle East, including Palestine. Please review the venue's access requirements.

Lecture | Award-Winning Art Photographer Reframes the Evolution of Black Photographic Practice
Dr. Willis explores the history and legacy of Black photography through images that reveal how Black photographers have shaped self-representation and cultural memory from the nineteenth century to today. Drawing on her landmark publication, Reflections in Black, she shows how photographers transformed the camera from a tool linked to distortion and exclusion into an instrument of self-definition, resistance, and creative expression. Featuring artists such as J.P. Ball, James VanDerZee, Gordon Parks, Roy DeCarava, Carrie Mae Weems, and Ming Smith, the talk traces the evolution of Black photographic practice across portraiture, documentary, photojournalism, and contemporary art. Dr. Willis is a photographer, curator, NYU professor, and director of the Center for Black Visual Culture.

Concert | Original Argentinian Tangos for Guitar Quartet
The guitarist and composer brings his new music to this stage from Buenos Aires. Adam Tully has been living in Argentina for over a decade, and has created a body of original tangos. His latest project is Cuartetos guitarreros, released in 2024, with an upcoming second volume. This is a personal album in which Tully questions essential aspects of life such as: "How do I want to live?," "What's left after everything is gone?," and "Do I find my place in the city or do I sometimes need the peace of mind only the country can offer?" Tully takes listeners on a journey through the folkloric roots of tango, with song forms like vidalita, estilo, vals, and milonga, until arriving in an almost untimely way at the irreverent "trilonga" which in a way represents his voice: it's a new song form created by the composer, a "lopsided milonga" with an extra beat.
