Museums | Jewish History: Centuries of Art

One of the largest collections of art and Jewish culture in the world, it focuses both on artifacts of Jewish history and on modern and contemporary art. Works in the collection are presented as distinctive creative expressions and as bearers of the stories of those who made, owned, used, preserved, and sometimes transformed them. The exhibition speaks of the vast range of Jewish experiences across the globe and over time, made tangible through artistic expression. It is both a mirror of Jewish identities and an inspiration for the formation of new ones. Admission each Sat is free.

Screening | 9/11: What I Saw (2021): A Firsthand Account

On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, this is the world premiere of Luigi Cazzaniga's documentary filmed in downtown Manhattan on September 11th, 2001, edited by Hernan Valle, produced by Luigi Cazzaniga, Ilka Scobie and Rick Whitaker.  A documentary masterpiece featuring rare footage shot on the morning of 9/11 by Italian artist Luigi Cazzaniga. While some of Cazzaniga’s now-historic footage of 9/11 has been shown on CNN, HBO, RAI, and other television networks around the world as well as the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in Lower Manhattan, Cazzaniga had never edited it into a film of his own. Until now.  It was during the pandemic when Cazzaniga, a longtime correspondent for Italian television, was able to sit down with this heartbreaking footage and reckon with what he saw that day. With editorial help from Hernan Valle and producers Ilka Scobie and Exquisite Pandemic editor Rick Whitaker, Cazzaniga was able to actualize his vision for this nearly hour-long film in time for the 20th anniversary of that tragic event with so many global consequences.  It is not easy to watch. But it is not to be missed. Cazzaniga will speak to the audience about his work.
