Opera | Berg's Wozzeck by Renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (online, streaming until Sep 10)


Austrian composer Alban Berg (1885-1935) is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century who preserved the Viennese tradition in his music. Wozzeck, completed in 1922, is his major work and operatic masterpiece. The opera, set in an apocalyptic pre-World War I environment, tells the story of a soldier's descent into madness. Enjoy a recording of 2017 Salzburg Festival performance staged by William Kentridge. Matthias Goerne is featured in the title role with Asmik Grigorian as Marie and Vladimir Jurowski leading the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
