Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. If you are classical music afficionado, you can spend whole day in New York going from one free classical concert to another. If you love theater, then New York gives you an option to attend plays and musicals free of charge, or at deep discount. You just need to have information about it. Lecture | The Virgins of Islamic Paradise: A Global History


Allusions to pure female companions—called hur in Arabic and referred to as houris or "virgins" in English—are so commonplace that they represent pervasive assumptions about Islam. The intense focus on houris may be a twenty-first century trend; however, the fascination with these celestial beings began long before September 11th. This presentation by historian Nerina Rustomji provides an account of how an ambiguous figure found within Islamic theological writings gained a distinctive place in English, French, and American literature since the eighteenth century.

Free: Amplified, curated and organized by LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs, invokes, remixes and deconstructs Sekou Sundiata’s Free (1977), his only published book of poetry. Theater | Shakespeare Outdoors: Cymbeline, Presented by The Drilling Company


Cymbeline has a complex, not a simple narrative, and is sometimes classified as a problem play because it is part history, part tragedy and part comedy. The marriage of Imogen and Posthumus is tested in the context of a rebellion of the Britons against the Roman Empire. Shows are offered while the lot is in use. The action sometimes happens around a parked car which drives away during a performance. At such times, the players stop and the audience moves its chairs, pausing the performance the same way a show would stop for rain uptown in Central Park. It's all part of the fun.
