Birdwatching | The New York City Naturalist Club: Eagle Watch


Winter is a great time to spot bald eagles. In the winter, many raptors—birds of prey—tend to fly further south to New York City in search of food. Urban Park Rangers will guide you to the best wildlife viewing spots in the urban jungle. Tour | Flatiron District Walking Tour


A journey through the vibrant neighborhood, viewing some of the City’s most notable landmarks, including the New York Life Insurance Building, the MetLife Clock Tower, the Appellate Courthouse and the famous Flatiron Building. Tour guides: Miriam Berman, historian and the author of Madison Square: The Park and Its Celebrated Landmarks and New York in Words and Images, a book of New York postcards. Fred Cookinham, historian, author of The Age of Rand: Imagining an Objectivist Future World. Mike Kaback, a native New Yorker, has an unquenchable enthusiasm for everything about this city. Forty-five minute organ meditations celebrating the diverse repertoire of the pipe organ. The program features the great repertoire of the organ on the 101-rank Pipe Organ built by Herman Schlicker and the 5 stop chamber organ built by Taylor and Boody Organ Builders. TTakes place every Saturday and Sunday from September 9, 2018 to May 26, 2019.

Classical Music | Medieval music for singers and instruments


Lessons & Carols by candlelight with early music for voices and period instruments, along with ‘new’ mediëval music. Readings in Middle English from John Wycliffe’s 14th century translation of the Bible. A reception of hypocras and sweetmeats follows. Early music generally comprises Medieval music (500–1400) and Renaissance music (1400–1600), but can also include Baroque music (1600–1760). In the later 20th century there was a resurgence of interest in the performance of music from the Medieval and Renaissance eras, and a number of instrumental consorts and choral ensembles specialising in Early music repertoire were formed.
