Birdwatching | Christmas Bird Count in the Park
Volunteers meet at 8am and will be split into groups. Each group will be led by an Urban Park Ranger and will move methodically within an assigned section in the park to count birds .After the bird count, soup and hot beverages will be served to volunteers at 12:30pm. You don’t have to be an experienced bird watcher to participate, but some ability to identify local birds is useful. If you are experienced with birding, please be generous in sharing your knowledge with others. BRING: • Binoculars, if you have them. They are not totally necessary, but they do make the job of identifying and counting birds easier. • Warm attire. Be prepared to keep yourself warm while keeping still.

Author Reading | Mistral: The Legendary Wind of Provence
Photographer Rachel Cobb presents her latest book, a portrait of Provence seen through its legendary wind, with excerpts from writings by Paul Auster, Lawrence Durrell, Jean Giono and Frédéric Mistral. Cobb spent years chasing the Mistral, which is the name of an incessant and capricious wind that inhabits the Provence region of France. In so doing, she challenged herself to photograph the invisible. As she became sensitive to the wind’s rhythms and effects, Cobb realized the Mistral was not just a weather phenomenon; it was an integral part of the fabric of Provençal life. It was everywhere, yet always unseen.

Organist Anna Lapwood has performed in Magdalen, Merton and Keble Colleges, Oxford, Pembroke, King's and Trinity College, Cambridge, Buxton Festival, Westminster Abbey, and the 2016 Three Choirs Festival. Anna is also regularly engaged to play the organ with London Contemporary Orchestra, with whom she has recently given solo performances of works by Arvo Pärt and Messiaen.
