Join staff, peers and volunteers who can help you with your braille study plan and assignments and recommend strategies for taking your braille proficiency to the next level. Braille games and activities will help you put your skills into practice. This study group welcomes blind and sighted learners alike. Braille is a tactile writing system used by people who are visually impaired. It is traditionally written with embossed paper. Braille users can read computer screens and other electronic supports using refreshable braille displays. They can write braille with the original slate and stylus or type it on a braille writer, such as a portable braille notetaker or computer that prints with a braille embosser.

Local non-profit Rise and Resist presents a five-hour nonviolent civil disobedience action designed for people of all ages and abilities. Civil disobedience is a time-honored, effective method for bringing, fierce, defiant, nonviolent pressure to bear on unjust systems. Protests create an audience, shape political dialogue, and move people to action. Rise and Resist uses civil disobedience along with other forms of nonviolent direct action and voting to make our voices and values heard. This training will introduce you to the philosophy and practicalities of participating in nonviolent disruptive action for social change. The entirety of the colony that was New Amsterdam--which eventually evolved into one of the world's greatest cities--could be found south of Wall Street. The plot of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Ang Lee’s martial arts extravaganza set in in 18th century Qing Dynasty China, swirls around the theft of a mythical blade called Green Destiny. The film is among the most visually exhilarating adventure-dramas ever made. It won over 40 awards, and was nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture, winning for Best Foreign Language Film (Taiwan), Best Art Direction, Best Original Score (by Tan Dun) and Best Cinematography. Dance Performance | Unique Dance Ensmble Drawn from NYC Public High Schools
Young Dancemakers Company, a unique dance ensemble of students drawn from NYC’s public high schools working under the guidance of acclaimed professionals, is proud to present its 24th annual touring season, which will be performed at various locations across four NYC boroughs, for audiences up to 2000. The series, in which young artists develop their own original choreography and present it in free public showings, will feature works developed under the tutelage of Alice Teirstein, Jessica Gaynor and William Catanzaro, as well as 2019 guest artist Dance Heginbotham, in workshops with members of the acclaimed Bridgman|Packer Dance, the Bessie-nominated choreographer and YDC alum Jonathan González, and musical theater guest teacher Peter Yuen.
