What started out as the rocky and desolate northern fringes of a rapidly expanding city is today among the world's most famous and beloved public parks. With over 843 acres of meadows, hills, ball fields and bodies of water, it's impossible not to find something to enjoy in Central Park.

Harlem's history is also one of the city's most dramatic, having gone through many ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic changes over the past roughly 400 years, which have resulted in a diverse array of places of worship, theaters, homes and eating establishments.

Greenwich Village is among Manhattan's most desirable and expensive residential neighborhoods. It's history, however, betrays it's monied status. The Village, with it's quiet, shaded streets, lined with lovely brick and brownstone townhouses, was once the incubating ground of artistic, social and political movements that have helped shape US history. From the Beats to the Folk Movement, from workers rights to gay rights, the Village has often been the center of it all.

Have you always wanted to try drawing outdoors but felt intimidated? This workshop gets you ready to work outdoors to draw the park. It will start from basic understanding of drawing materials, techniques and composition. Then students are off to work on their own subject matter. By drawing within a limited time frame, students’ decision-making becomes faster and they use essential elements, composition, simplifying light and shadow shapes to complete the drawing. Instructor Yuka Imata earned her B.F.A. at Massachusetts College of Art and Design followed by Art Students League of New York winning the Xavier Gonzales and Ethel Edwards Grant to study in Spain. She has received awards from the Salmagundi and Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Clubs and was featured in American Artist and Plein Air Magazines.

Arguably the world's most valuable, busiest and most crowded pieces of real estate, Midtown Manhattan is what most visitors think of when they think of New York City. Home to some of the city's most iconic architecture, from Gothic to Post-Modern and from Beaux-Arts to Art Deco (lots of Art Deco). it's not difficult to understand why. But just behind the massive facades, lie facinating histories just waiting to be unveiled.

The area around the High Line Park was a vital business district of New York City, supplying fresh fruits, French Cheeses and Russian caviar as well as fresh meats to City markets. The hustle and bustle of the streets induced the City to elevate the railroad trains delivering goods to the commercial buildings. When interstate truck traffic made the railway outdated, it fell into ruin, only to be regenerated as a park.

Established by Battery Dance in 1982 as the Downtown Dance Festival, today the Battery Dance Festival is New York City’s longest-running free public dance festival. Audiences are traditionally drawn from the large downtown working population and residents, families, tourists, senior citizens and dance fans from the greater NYC metropolitan area. Each year, the Festival draws a combined audience of over 12,000 people.  The Battery Dance Festival provides a unique opportunity for outstanding dancers and choreographers to present original works of high artistic merit in a free public forum. BDF revels in the panoply of dance that our city offers, with strong emphasis on the inclusion of diverse dance styles and an international roster of performers. What would happen if George W. Bush were prosecuted for war crimes? On a glorious autumn morning in St. Andrews, Scotland, former US president George W. Bush approached the first tee of the world-famous Old Course to play a round of golf he would not finish. Unceremoniously abducted off the course by a team of paramilitary commandos, he was transported to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to stand trial for war crimes in connection with the Iraq War.

César López started studying music when he was 10. Only three years later, he won the 1st Prize in the Cuban National Sax Contest. In 1985 he got a scholarship at the Escuela Nacional de Arte (National Arts School) and, simultaneously, started his professional career with renowned Cuban musician Bobby Carcasés, who introduced César to Latin Jazz. In 1988, due to his outstanding conditions as a musician, 19 years old he was chosen by Maestro Chucho Valdés to play the sax for the famous Cuban band Irakere. During 9 years César developed a fruitful international career with this Grammy awarded band, performing at the most prestigious festivals, theaters and clubs, which gave him the possibility of sharing the stage with Jazz stars like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Winston Marsalis, Michel Camilo, Paquito D’ Rivera, Tito Puente, Arturo Sandoval and others.
