One of the oldest free weekly events in Manhattan is Dixieland Jazz with the Gotham Jazzmen, which happen at noon every Tuesday. Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Park Walk | Walk: The Bridges and Waterways of New York's Central Park


This is a moderately paced adventure under, over, around and through many of the amazing architectural wonders throughout Central Park. We begin our walk at the southwest tip of Central Park South and zigzag our way up the eastern half of Central Park to The Harlem Meer at 110th St. Then we circle back along the western half of the park and finish at Sheep's Meadow. Please bring water and lunch or snack for this fascinating 5-hour journey of approx. 8 miles.

Conference | From War to Politics: An International Conference on El Salvador’s Peace Process


This conference brings together major participants in the peace process that ended El Salvador’s 13-year civil war (1979-1992). The peace process itself was a remarkable achievement that ended an intractable conflict, and enabled El Salvador to transition to a peaceful civilian rule. By bringing together over a dozen of the most crucial participants and scholars, From War to Politics aims to reflect on the circumstances that allowed the peace process to be successful.

This is a 3-hour tour that begins with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, an icon of New York City for over 125 years, with spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The tour then moves on to a stroll of Brooklyn Heights, America’s and New York City’s first suburb. The tour then explores the neighborhood DUMBO before ending at the Fulton Ferry landing. Park Walk | Walk-off-the-Lamb Walk


The annual post-Easter walk down the Harlem and East Rivers, planning the route that we will take on the Great Saunter, May 7. Lunch at Carl Schurz Park after 8 miles, then another 8 miles to the South Street Sea Port. Bring water, food and a Metro card in case you need it. Moderate to brisk pace. Heavy rain cancel.

Opening Reception | Matter Painting: Work by 3 Artists


Jeonghang and Choonhyang Yun and Thomas Nonn came from chaotic countries, Korea and Hungary (Stalinist control and uprisings). Both the Yuns and Thomas Nonn use wood in their paintings though in different forms. All their works have textured surfaces. They depict nature as their themes with often differing use and results.
