Theater | If We Don't Get It, Shut It Down: A Play About the Baltimore Uprising

Morgan Stevenson premieres her senior thesis play, which details the events of the Baltimore uprising that occurred last spring. It is an interview-based theater production performed by current New School students and alums, who perform the stories of Baltimore's youth of color, the most pivotal force in the fight against police brutality and institutional racism. The structure of the play allows audiences to focus narrowly on the stories of the youth and question the integrity of mainstream media who were responsible for the defamation of protesters during this time. Following the performance, the audience will be able to engage directly with the Baltimore youth activists who inspired this play through an interactive panel discussion. This event occurs April 22-23.
