Film | BUtterfield 8 (1960): Drama Starring Elizabeth Taylor 


Gloria Wandrous, a promiscuous fashion model, falls in love with Weston Liggett, the hard-drinking son of a working-class family who has married into money. Director: Daniel Mann Cast: Elizabeth Taylor, Laurence Harvey, Eddie Fisher, Dina Merrill, Mildred Dunnock, Betty Field Elizabeth Taylor was a British-American actress who acted throughout her entire life, becoming the highest-paid movie star in the world in the 1960s. In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked her seventh on its list of the greatest female screen legends. She received several awards for her work, including two Academy Awards, one Golden Globe, a BAFTA, the AFI Life Achievement Award, the BAFTA Fellowship, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award, and a medallion at the Kennedy Center Honors. She was one of the first celebrities to take part in HIV/AIDS activism, and even co-founded the American Foundation for AIDS Research in 1985.

Dance Performance | MAJOR: Interdisciplinary Performance of Self-Discovery Inspired by Majorette Dance


Brooklyn-based dance, theater, and interdisciplinary artist Ogemdi Ude updates her celebrated work MAJOR for an outdoor space. The work explores the physicality and history of majorette dance—a fundamental relic of Black girlhood. Six Black femmes engage in majorette dance to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Experiments in improvised and verbatim language intertwine with a music score integrating Southern rap, horns, drumlines, and melodic R&B and soul by Lambkin.

Swing with the Louis Armstrong House Museum (LAHM) Big Band and the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers! Inspired by Armstrong's extraordinary career and his transformative contributions to music, the LAHM Big Band is led by some of the most accomplished musicians working today. They are joined by the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers, who bring the swing era of the 1930s and 1940s to life for audiences of all ages. Move to some of the best jazz around and dance with the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers as they show off some boppin' steps!
