The purpose of this ensemble concert is to ask how music, like language, can become weightless without losing meaning. Performers include Ginevra Petrucci, flute, Peter Arfsten, flute, Vlad Hontila, violin, Greg Luce, viola, Oliver Weston, cello, Milad Daniari, double bass, Matthieu Cognet, piano, and Oliver Xu, percussion. Program: Luciano Berio (1925-2003) Musica Leggera Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco (1895-1968) Divertimento Erwin Schulhoff (1894-1942) Concertino Alfredo Casella (1883-1847) Barcarola et Scherzo Op.4 Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958) Quintet in C minor

Festival | Celebrate Dia de Muertos with Community Ofrenda & Mixteca Music

Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican cultural tradition representing a time to honor and revere deceased family members and ancestors. The night will feature a performance by Pasatono Orquesta, an ensemble dedicated to the musical culture of the Mixtec--portraying the old mixed bands with strings, wind instruments and percussion almost extinct today in the Mixteca. Pasatono Orquesta is presented in collaboration with the Mexico Now Festival, New York City's first and only independent festival spotlighting contemporary Mexican art and culture. There are two ways to access this event: 1. General Admission, first-come first-served. Just show up! 2. Fast Track opening the Monday before the event at noon.
