Conference | Learn about Visual Arts & the Figure of "The Worm"

Worms for Brains is a graduate student conference that takes up “the worm” as a subject and paradigm for studying visual arts. Like a compost pile, where heterogeneous materials intermingle and decompose into nutrient-rich soil, the conference will combine varied perspectives from Art History, Arts Education, Film and Media Studies, Musicology, and Performance Studies.  Panels will examine place-making through participation, the worm's-eye view, and critical methodologies as grunt. Presentations will wiggle between sonic, visual, and textual elements of worms both as a subject and as a theoretical springboard.

Play | The Seven Ravens: Family-Friendly Fairytale Adaptation (In Person AND Online!)

When a young girl makes a shocking discovery about the history of her family, she embarks on a challenging quest to reunite with loved ones she's never met. Weaving a little-known Brothers Grimm tale with the experiences of child migrants, refugees, unaccompanied minors, and displaced youth across the globe, The Seven Ravens explores the meaning of home, the love of family, and the lengths to which a child may go to build bridges to her own lost past. A playful, imaginative, and visually arresting work, The Seven Ravens celebrates the resilience, imagination, resourcefulness, and tenacity of children living through displacement, separation, and dreams of reunion in the face of great odds, shedding light on one of today's most pressing sociopolitical issues through the lenses of allegory, fantasy, and play. The New Yorker calls Lattimore's solo work "complex and expansive, songs that evoke seismic emotional shifts... not so much music to zone out to as music to self-actualize by." Collaboration remained at the heart of her work, showing up in the form of joint creations with Superchunk's Mac McCaughan, as well as in contributions from members of Slowdive and The Cure on her 2023 album Goodbye, Hotel Arkada. She will play music from that album and from across her already impressive career. There are two ways to access this event: 1. General Admission, first-come first-served. Just show up! 2.
