The cultural catalysts of globalFEST host a musical takeover with a female-forward lineup highlighting women artists. The New York Times has called the festival, "a joyful and raucous celebration of diversity and culture." Experience this unique mix of music from around the planet (and around the corner) with psychedelic Turkish folk superstar Gaye Su Akyol; Soweto, South Africa's Afropunk, funk, and gospel consciousness raisers BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness); the genre-bending Puerto Rican bomba-infused El Laberinto del Coco featuring four female singers and baritone sax; and the flamboyant West African singer and guitarist Natu Camara. globalFEST alum and soul-stirring Afro-Indigenous American roots music singer/songwriter Martha Redbone curates a stage this year with a trio of powerful singer/songwriter/bandleaders, featuring sets from Red Roots Americana Aquinnah Wampanoag singer Thea Hopkins, legendary Chilean jazz vocalist Claudia Acuna, and Taina Asili, a singer of rebellious songs for love and liberation.
