New York City's favorite "little big band," Steven Bernstein's Millennial Territory Orchestra cracks open the monumental songbook of Sly & The Family Stone with a party of special guests including Vernon Reid, Corey Glover, and Joan As Police Woman. Reimagining the music of Sly Stone through the filter of their own "downtown NYC" aesthetic, Bernstein and company illuminate the melodic and harmonic sophistication of Sly's timeless body of work, while upholding the vibrant soul and psychedelic funk that's the backbone of classics like "M'Lady," "Everyday People" and "Family Affair." Organizers lend out hundreds of free blankets on a first-come, first-served basis, or bring your own cotton or fleece blanket. There will also be pre-set chairs, or you may bring your own. To protect the lawn, please do not sit on waterproof materials such as plastic tarps, yoga mats, or inflatable chairs. Bring your own picnic or purchase food and drinks from tents on the side of the lawn.
