Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. If you are classical music afficionado, you can spend whole day in New York going from one free classical concert to another. If you love theater, then New York gives you an option to attend plays and musicals free of charge, or at deep discount. You just need to have information about it. Tour | Explore Castle Williams Tour


Castle Williams, the centerpiece of the system of fortifications designed to guard New York City just prior to the War of 1812, was long off-limits to the public. After an extensive rehabilitation project in 2011, the National Park Service opened the Castle to the general public for the first time in the fort's 200-year history. Tours of the Castle take visitors through all three levels and the roof run every hour on the half hour. Tours are approximately 30 minutes in length and require a free ticket. Tickets are available one hour before each tour begins, and may be picked up inside the Castle. Visitors are advised that tours require climbing three flights of stairs. The Castle's upper floors are not handicap-accessible.

Bahar Behbahani is an Iranian artist living and working in New York. His exhibition comprises paintings and an installation structured around the conflicted figure of Donald Wilber. Wilber is marked by duality: his writings on Persian gardens distinguish him as a well-respected Middle Eastern architectural scholar, one whose research the artist studied in college. However, Wilber was also a CIA secret agent, responsible for orchestrating the 1953 military coup in Iran.

Discussion | The Struggle Against Racism and Repression


This program marks 50 years since Stokely Carmichael galvanized the Black Power generation in June 1966; and it suggests the long road to the Black Power era with three presentations. ,br> First, Caleb Smith traces the contours of white domination back to perhaps the first African-American prison narrative from the 1800s in Jim Crow New York in The Life and the Adventures of a Haunted Convict. Second, Aldon Morris traces the birth of modern sociology back to W.E.B. Du Bois and the Atlanta School in The Scholar Denied. And third, Aram Goudsouzian traces the dawn of the Black Power era back to the 1966 Meredith March Against Fear in Down to the Crossroads. Civil rights icon James Meredith was shot down as he began his March Against Fear, and the black freedom movement mobilized against white terror.

After moving to the United States, Manndorff quickly integrated himself into the jazz scene of New York City and established himself as one of the voices of the international guitar discourse. Since 1995, he lives again in Vienna, Austria. With his stunning and idiosyncratic technique Manndorff has developed a distinctive style. He is regarded as a sound artist and as one of the most interesting and stylistically incisive European guitarists.
