Tour | Explore Castle Williams Tour


Castle Williams, the centerpiece of the system of fortifications designed to guard New York City just prior to the War of 1812, was long off-limits to the public. After an extensive rehabilitation project in 2011, the National Park Service opened the Castle to the general public for the first time in the fort's 200-year history. Tours of the Castle take visitors through all three levels and the roof run every hour on the half hour. Tours are approximately 30 minutes in length and require a free ticket. Tickets are available one hour before each tour begins, and may be picked up inside the Castle. Visitors are advised that tours require climbing three flights of stairs. The Castle's upper floors are not handicap-accessible.

Concert | Enrico Granafei, Italian Guitarist-Singer


Enrico Granafei has a long history of musical experience, which encompasses both Classical Music and Jazz. He received a degree in classical guitar from the Conservatory of l’Aquila in Italy in 1976. His artistic career started in Rome where he soon became known in the musical community. But Granafei is even MORE exciting because, in addition to jazz guitar, he also sings, and he plays harmonica. In addition to jazz and Latin American music, his repertoire also often has an Italian component. He has a background in theater, which gives him a wonderfully engaging stage presence. Enrico just released a new CD, which was recently nominated for all kinds of critical awards, and he's getting great press.

Cymande emerged as innovators of the funk music scene during early 1970s. Influenced by their Caribbean heritage, Cymande combined reggae and Rastafarian rhythms with rare groove, funk and jazz to create a new and exciting sound. Twin sisters Paris and Amber Strother and musical compadre Anita Bias are KING. In 2011 KING independently released their first EP to much acclaim. Title track “The Story,” “Supernatural,” and “Hey” make up the 3-piece introduction to their carefully crafted dream-soul sound. ,br> Deva Mahal is a powerful vocalist and songwriter who is the daughter of legendary blues musician Taj Mahal, with whom she wrote the song “Never Let You Go” on his GRAMMY nominated 2009 album Maestro. She is a member of the acclaimed band Fredericks Brown, the musical collaboration of vocalist Mahal and New Zealand keyboardist Steph Brown. New York City-based DJ Parler (par-lé) has rocked audiences and tastemakers across the U.S., South Africa, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico and beyond.
