Tour | Hudson River Nature Walk
Learn about the park’s wildlife by joining experienced naturalists on guided nature walks along the park’s esplanade. Enjoy a meandering waterfront walk while viewing and learning about the park’s flora and fauna, including some of the 85 different species of birds identified within Park boundaries. Peek into some of our many gardens to discover butterflies, dragonflies and other interesting insects. Get to know the native plants that thrive in unexpected places in and around the river’s edge. Each nature walk is unique and offers a one-of-a-kind treasure hunt-like experience.
Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Loud noises and barking tend to startle wildlife and reduce viewing opportunities - please be considerate and leave your dog at home.

This is a 3-hour tour that begins with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, an icon of New York City for over 125 years, with spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The tour then moves on to a stroll of Brooklyn Heights, America’s and New York City’s first suburb. The tour then explores the neighborhood DUMBO before ending at the Fulton Ferry landing.

As neighborhoods along the L train brace for an interruption in service of unprecedented scale, this fast-paced competition asks interdisciplinary teams to propose implementable interventions that look beyond shuttle buses and private cars. Participants from design and non-design fields are invited to this program that asks how unforeseen design solutions can facilitate easier routes during service shutdowns.

Come hear how this grassroots movement is shaking up the status quo and giving the world a fighting chance of meeting the Paris climate treaty's pledge to bring carbon emissions to near-zero by mid-century, thereby avoiding the worst consequences of climate change.
Speaker Clara Vondrich is the Global Director of Divest-Invest Philanthropy. In this role, she manages the foundation sector for the broader Divest-Invest movement, which now spans universities, sovereign wealth funds, cities, pension funds, insurance companies, health organizations, faith groups and individuals.

Workshop | Kayak Polo
They’ve got the equipment (kayaks, vests, helmets, paddles), you bring the body, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship (shorts/sandals, too). Your level of experience doesn’t matter.
They are limited to 15 participants per game, so reserve your spot for the game at 11AM. They’ll put you in a team and give you a vest number on a first-come first-served basis. Dedicated players and volunteers, though, will end up being teachers to others.
They focus on individual attention and kayak mentoring, and offer the best free kayak learning experience you can get in NYC. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before game time to be donned with vest, helmet, paddle, and kayak.

Tour | Explore Castle Williams Tour
Castle Williams, the centerpiece of the system of fortifications designed to guard New York City just prior to the War of 1812, was long off-limits to the public. After an extensive rehabilitation project in 2011, the National Park Service opened the Castle to the general public for the first time in the fort's 200-year history.
Tours of the Castle take visitors through all three levels and the roof run every hour on the half hour. Tours are approximately 30 minutes in length and require a free ticket. Tickets are available one hour before each tour begins, and may be picked up inside the Castle.
Visitors are advised that tours require climbing three flights of stairs. The Castle's upper floors are not handicap-accessible.

Fishing in New York City? You bet! Each summer offers Big City Fishing to those as young as five who are eager to learn both how to fish and about the Hudson River environment. They provide the rods, reels, bait and instruction. Beyond teaching fishing, the program also provides participants with a first-hand opportunity to learn about river ecology and the many fish species that can be found in the river.
Participants can drop in a line and relax, or engage with environmental educators on such topics such as water quality, fish biology and more. A fun and educational experience, Big City Fishing offers city-dwellers a unique option for outdoor family recreation.
