Other | Memento Mori: An Interactive Installation


Larger than life skeletons transform the visitors to the venue through augmented reality in this an interactive installation by Gabe BC. Gabe BC (Gabriel Barcia-Colombo) is a mixed media artist whose work focuses on collections, memorialization and the act of leaving one's digital imprint for the next generation. His work takes the form of video sculptures, immersive performances, augmented reality, large scale projections and vending machines. His work plays upon this modern exigency in our culture to chronicle, preserve and wax nostalgic, an idea which Barcia-Colombo renders visually by "collecting" human portraits on video.

Tour | Harriet Tubman and Maryland's Underground Railroad Sites (livestream)


Join the tour of the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad sites in Maryland, a network of secret routes and safe houses used by enslaved African-Americans to escape into free states and Canada. Learn how Harriet successfully escaped from slavery and how she then heroically led others to freedom. The program will focus on Harriet Tubman's (1822-1913) inspirational life and feature many of the Underground Railroad sites in Maryland associated with her.

Workshop | Chinese Paper-Cutting Workshop


Create special Halloween style paper-cutting arts with Ming Liang Lu, a Chinese-born master paper portrait cutter. Participants will work with Lu on how to make pumpkin and other Halloween symbols using paper and scissors and make your Halloween a special one. At the end of the workshop, Lu will pick a lucky participant to do a 3D paper portrait cutting demo. The lucky participant will receive the portrait as a gift. See link for COVID protocols.

Bet­ty Yu is explor­ing new forms of sto­ry­telling, mixed media col­lage, exper­i­men­tal video, new media and counter car­tog­ra­phy prac­tices. She is work­ing on a re-envi­sioned people’s map through a decol­o­nized, de-gen­tri­fied, racial jus­tice frame­work that high­lights people’s hopes for the com­mu­ni­ty, untold his­to­ries and brings to focus the places erased by dom­i­nant narratives. ⁠⁠ Sari Carel is devel­op­ing City of Trees, a social­ly engaged sound and sun-print project that engages with local com­mu­ni­ties and his­to­ries, and explores the often over­looked rec­i­p­ro­cal rela­tion­ship between New York­ers and urban trees. It is guid­ed by con­tact print­ing and sound ele­ments based on the city’s urban for­est. As part of a pub­lic engage­ment pro­gram dur­ing the res­i­den­cy Sari is focus­ing on tree stew­ard­ship, activism as self care, and cen­ter­ing of the role of African-Amer­i­can activists in renew­ing Brooklyn’s urban forest. ⁠

Maestro Frederick Renz leads his classical orchestra in symphonic works from two illustrious 18th-century musical dynasties: the Haydns--Joseph and his well-respected but overshadowed younger brother Michael; and the Mozarts--Leopold and his prodigious son Wolfgang Amadeus. Classical Music | Choral Works by J.S. Bach


Maestro Harold Rosenbaum and Grammy-nominated New York Virtuoso Singers perfom all the choral movements from Bach's Cantatas 38 through 48. Piano accompaniment by Will Healy. Founded in 1988, The New York Virtuoso Singers has collaborated with The Riverside Symphony, The American Composers Orchestra, The Orchestra of St. Luke's, The American Symphony, Bang on a Can and has been featured on WQXR. The chorus has also performed on Lincoln Center's Great Performers Series. Conductor Harold Rosenbaum has given the world premieres of about 475 works. He has performed with The New York Philharmonic, American Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, Paul Taylor Dance Company, P.D.Q. Bach (in Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall), Opera Dolce. The New York Times praised him as "an astute programmer with an ear for the unusual". Proof of vaccination and masks required.
