Other | Memento Mori: An Interactive Installation

Larger than life skeletons transform the visitors to the venue through augmented reality in this an interactive installation by Gabe BC. Gabe BC (Gabriel Barcia-Colombo) is a mixed media artist whose work focuses on collections, memorialization and the act of leaving one's digital imprint for the next generation. His work takes the form of video sculptures, immersive performances, augmented reality, large scale projections and vending machines. His work plays upon this modern exigency in our culture to chronicle, preserve and wax nostalgic, an idea which Barcia-Colombo renders visually by "collecting" human portraits on video.

Tour | Monet's Giverny - A Home and Garden (livestream)

Claude Monet lived and painted in Giverny from 1883 to his death in 1926. He purchased a house and property and began a vast landscaping project which included lily ponds that would become the subjects of his best-known works. He began painting the water lilies in 1899, first in vertical views with a Japanese bridge as a central feature and later in the series of large-scale paintings that was to occupy him continuously for the next 20 years. Monet gained much of his inspiration from his gardens and believed it was important to surround himself with nature and paint outdoors.

Discussion | Tricks & Treats: Revisited! A 40th Anniversary Look Back at Coney Island (online)

If you love the Mermaid Parade, Coney Island Circus Sideshow, the Coney Island Museum, or any other part of CIUSA'S dynamic programming, come hear about how it all began. Dick Zigun and Paul Zaloom as they discuss Tricks & Treats at the Wax Musee. This 1981 event launched CIUSA, and was a Halloween celebration of Coney Island's World in Wax, which was the oldest wax museum in the country at the time. The show featured art installations, dance, music, film, performance art, and puppets. The original twelve-hour event was organized by Zigun, who is CIUSA's founder and artistic director, and the show opened with object performance from Zaloom, who by that time had already made strides in his prolific puppet career.
