You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Hike | Fort Totten-to-Alley Pond Environmental Center Hike


Via the Cross Island jogging/walking path. Explore the area including a possible visit to the Bayside Historical Society. They will take either the Q-13 or Q-16 to the last stop Fort Totten. After, walk the 2.5 miles along Flushing Bay, make a pit/lunch stop in Crocheron Park and continue to Northern Blvd. End Part 1. Those who wish to continue to the Alley Pond Environmental Center and nature walk can accompany me and then take the Q-12 back to Main Street. Another option is to take the LIRR to Penn Station. Great views of the Throngs Neck Bridge. Mostly flat terrain. Bring food and liquids and the bus ride is at least 45 minutes from Main St. to Fort Totten. Figure 5-6 hours for the day.

Opening Reception | Home Art, an Exhibition of Czech Folk Design from the 1950s-1980s


A selection of the most interesting artifacts from the Home Art collection which are on loan from Domácí umění o.s. in Prague, Czech Republic. Around 250 objects can be seen. Home Art is a phenomenon that arose in the second half of the 20th century in communist Czechoslovakia. It was made by people with no art education and with no ambition beyond an intent to create a piece of art simply for their and their family’s joy. These artifacts decorated the interiors of Communist era housing projects, countryside cottages, offices and workrooms, pubs and military dormitories.

Whenever the Guerrilla Girls do, they head back into the jungle to rework their signature show, Feminists Are Funny, making sure to include up-to-the-minute commentary on hot political topics, breaking news in women’s issues and bunches of bananas in a riotous 70-minute romp through their famous posters, street-theater actions, and excerpts from the current comedies in our repertoire. Skits, songs and parodies in Feminists Are Funny address reproductive rights, war, sex trafficking, hunger, herstory/history/hirstory, and violence against women.

Pezzettino is the project of Milwaukee-born, Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist Margaret Stutt. Though classically trained in piano as a child, Margaret left music to study art history and Eastern medicine. In 2008, she returned to music after a chance encounter with an accordion.
