Concert | Italian Flutist Matteo Cesari


Following flute and university studies in Italy, Matteo Cesari received highest honors for his thesis on Berio’s Harvard Lectures. He pursued flute studies with Mario Caroli at the Strasbourg Conservatoire, and is at present a doctoral student at the Conservatoire de Paris, studying with Sophie Cherrier and pursuing research on perception in the works of Brian Ferneyhough and Salvatore Sciarrino. Matteo Cesari has won numerous awards and scholarships like the Kranichsteiner Muzikpreis in Darmstadt, First Prize at the 12th International Contemporary Music Competition in Krakow and the Severino Gazzelloni scholarship for the best interpretation of Berio's Sequenza I. Cesari has performed extensively as a soloist and as a member of ensembles such as Accroche Note, Ensemble Itinéraire, Ensemble Algoritmo, and Ensemble Risognane. His performances has taken him to Italy ( Auditorio della Musica, Rome ), Paris ( Cité de la Musique, Auditorium du Musée d'Orsay ) , Strasbourg ( Auditorium France 3 ), London ( National Portrait Gallery ) and Japan ( Alti Hall, Kyoto ).
