Merkin Concert Hall is not only intimate, it has great acoustics and is the perfect setting to see a small string orchestra (with a big sound) like The Riverside Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra played three pieces I've never heard live before, something I love in an evening of music: to be surprised. The orchestra has a rich, beautiful sound and played the four pieces, one, the violin rondo by Franz Schubert, to perfection, working hard to give the fullest, liveliest sound to each line of music.
