Screening | Film Fest: Freedoms Under Assault (2025) Documentary (+ FIlmmaker Q&A)

A full-length documentary that chronicles the systematic destruction of a world-class university and the politically motivated culture war against its faculty over a two-year period. A perfect storm of an autocratic university president collaborating with a supermajority reactionary state legislature following the cultural wars agenda of the White House has effectively curtailed the institutional autonomy of Indiana University as well as shared governance structures, academic freedom, free speech and assembly rights, tenure, and the viability of arts and humanities programs. Directors: Robert F. Arnove & Jacky Comforty Q&A with filmmakers after screening. Complimentary refreshments before the screening.

Workshop | Accessible, Grounding, & Restorative Yoga in the Park

Participants flow together and celebrate community through mindful movement with Yoga Sangraha. This is not a new style of yoga, but a gathering of timeless practices — accessible, grounding, and deeply restorative. Led with science and tradition at the heart, this class will guide you through a sequence of postures designed to balance, stabilize, and calm the body and mind. The word Sangraha means “a collection,” and this practice brings together postures and breathwork that activate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping you leave feeling focused, connected, and at ease. No prior experience needed — come as you are! Bring a bottled water. Organizers will provide the yoga mats. Weather permitting.

Tour | Guided Exhibition Tour Exploring Ancient Magic Practices

A walk through the current exhibition, Cursed! The Power of Magic in the Ancient World. From its integration into religious traditions in Mesopotamia and Egypt, to its marginal, often illicit status in Greece and Rome, magic played a central role in ancient societies. Cursed! examines the visualization and practice of magic between 2000 BCE and 300 CE in these communities, featuring rare objects in a variety of media-including sculpture in stone and bronze; decorated ceramics; amulets in semiprecious stones, gold, and silver; and papyrus scrolls. Taken together, these artifacts reveal a shared human desire: to influence the unseen forces shaping life and death.

Dance Performance | Toad Mountain: Work-in-Progress Contemporary Dance Performance Inspired by Folklore

Jie-Hung Connie Shiau’s performance draws on Taiwanese folklore to explore the hidden interior spaces where we store memory, silence, instinct, and grief, the pieces of ourselves we preserve, protect, or abandon in the name of self-preservation, some by conscious choice and others slowly, invisibly, over time. Folklore has long served as a vessel for what a society cannot always speak aloud, and Shiau’s process returns to those mythic landscapes not as nostalgia but as mirrors, an attempt to uncover where we hide, what we bury, and what we might finally be ready to release and reconcile.

Play | Witch: Darkly Comic Contemporary Retelling of a Jacobean Drama

A charming devil arrives in the quiet village of Edmonton to bargain for the souls of its residents in exchange for their darkest wishes. Elizabeth should be his easiest target, having been labeled a "witch" and cast out by the town, but her soul is not so readily bought. As the devil returns to convince her - and then returns again - unexpected passions flare, alliances are formed, and the village is forever changed. An inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama, this sharp, subversive fable debates how much our souls are wroth when hope is hard to come by. Written by Jen Silverman. Directed by Daniella Caggiano.

Decades after her death, Mexican artist Frida Kahlo has become a feminist icon, queer touchstone, political symbol, and ubiquitous commodity. The perspectives of scholars, artists, artisans, collectors, and devoted fans explore how Kahlo’s image has been claimed, reproduced, marketed, and reimagined while her paintings continue to inspire deeply. Vibrant and insightful, the film looks beyond Fridamania to ask what happens when a radical artist becomes both a universal role model and a global brand.
