Concert | Inayat: A Duet for Four -- Ancient North Indian Folk & Classical Traditions (+ Dance Performance)


Experience the thoroughly unique dance performance Inayat: A Duet for Four. The work merges two ancient north Indian performance traditions: Rajasthani folk music and classical Kathak. Featuring expert musicians Sadiq Khan, Asin Khan, and Zakir Khan Langa (collectively known as SAZ); young virtuoso dancer Tarini Tripathi; and a storyline bound together by Divya Bhatia, Inayat offers freshly choreographed pieces in Kathak, set entirely to traditional songs of the Langa community from the deserts of western Rajasthan and select kavit of Kathak--performed outdoors for audiences to enjoy. There are two ways to access this event: 1. General Admission, first-come first-served. Just show up! 2. Fast Track opening the Monday before the event at noon for all.

Enjoy an evening of high-energy swing dance with the Eyal Vilner Big Band, one of New York's leading voices on the Lindy Hop scene. Composer and bandleader Eyal Vilner's combo has been electrifying audiences for more than 16 years at venues and festivals around the world. For this set, Vilner will play hot tracks from his big band's newest album, Big Apple Stomp, featuring original compositions and new arrangements of golden standards. Don't know your tuck turn from your basket whip? Arrive early for on-site instruction from choreographer Caleb Teicher of the groundbreaking SW!NG OUT live show, catch a performance of Caleb Teicher & Nathan Bugh's fan-favorite choreography, Meet Ella, then have fun with Teicher and their team of star performers for an evening of social dance. The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, directed by Stephen Burdman, is presented outdoors in a free, open-air production. The play examines the fragile balance between loyalty and ambition as a group of senators conspires to prevent a feared tyranny, only to unleash unrest and instability. As alliances fracture and public tensions rise, Shakespeare's exploration of power, persuasion, and responsibility unfolds with striking contemporary relevance. Note: The audience moves and follows the actors 5-6 times during the performance.

Enjoy music from the dynamic New York-based Ghanaian-American DJ and producer Ethan Tomas. Tomas always gets the club moving at his phenomenally popular GINJA parties in Brooklyn, spinning a smart and modern mix of African and global contemporary dance music that includes Afrobeats, dancehall, soca, gqom, amapiano, and American Hip-Hop and R&B. Tomas has enjoyed major international success with a standout performance for more than 20,000 fans at Ghana's Afrofuture Music Festival. His debut EP, Origins, has garnered over 1 million streams, solidifying his place as a rising star in the African dance scene.
