Concert | Piano in the Park:JazzWeek-Charting Artist Plays Straight-Ahead Jazz

A five, six, seven, eight... Come on down and swing along to the best jazz the Big Apple has to offer. A swingin' pianist rooted in the bebop tradition, Marc Devine began playing jazz piano in high school before moving on to study under the tutelage of trumpet master Clark Terry. In 2009 Devine moved to NYC where he became a mainstay of the jazz scene, performing regularly with his own bands and as a sideman working with musicians such as Fukushi Tainaka, Hide Tanaka, Bill Crow, Jackie Williams, Jerry Weldon and many others. Devine recently released recordings of his NYC trios, Inspiration, on ITI Records featuring Hide Tanaka on bass and drummer Fukushi Tainaka which climbed to number 34 on the JazzWeek radio charts. His CD The Late Set was also very well received, recorded live at Mezzrow with Hide Tanaka on bass and the legendary Jackie Williams on drums. "Devine is right in that pocket. Simply just smashing stuff that's a tonic for recidivist ears that want to hear it old school, played perfectly." -Midwest Jazz Record

Author Reading | A Musical Journey Across Cultures

Blending memoir and musical history, From the Bronx to the Bosphorus uncovers the vibrant, multicultural music scene of post-WWII New York. Feldman traces his journey from the East European klezmorim of the Bronx to the Armenian and Greek nightclubs of Manhattan, and ultimately to the klezmer revival of the late 1970s. Along the way, he encounters musicians from a range of traditions--including an Armenian virtuoso who once played for Stalin and the Shah of Iran--and studies with Dave Tarras, the greatest klezmer clarinetist of his generation. Rich with personal stories and cultural insight, this book is a celebration of music's power to connect communities across time and place.

Play | Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well in the Park (Singles Night)

"This is the way Shakespeare wrote his plays to be seen." -The Huffington Post Get swept up in one of Shakespeare's boldest romantic comedies with New York Classical Theatre! Written around 1604, All's Well That Ends Well is one of Shakespeare's boldest romantic comedies. When Helena--a brilliant, determined young woman--heals a king, she earns the right to choose her husband. But love isn't so simple, and she must use wit, courage, and a daring plan to win the life she desires. Full of humor, heart, and twists, this rarely performed gem is a story of love on Helena's terms. New York Classical Theatre's signature style, Panoramic Theatre, turns public spaces into the world of the play. Instead of sitting in one place, the audience moves with the actors from scene to scene, following the action as it unfolds. This immersive approach creates a dynamic, interactive experience where every performance is shaped by its surroundings. Come solo, leave with a new friend (or maybe a love interest)! Mingle with other theater-loving singles before the show.

Concert | Emmy-Winning Composer Adrian Younge and His 35-Piece Orchestra

Adrian Younge isn't just a composer--he's a sonic architect, a time traveler weaving together past and future through lush, cinematic soundscapes. An Emmy-winning composer, he's shaped the sound of modern music, whether scoring the cult classic Black Dynamite, crafting dusty soul loops for Wu-Tang Clan and Kendrick Lamar, or reshaping jazz history with Jazz Is Dead. His work pulses with deep intention, blending the raw grit of vintage soul with the grandeur of orchestral arrangements. Now, he's bringing his most ambitious project yet--Something About April III--to life with a 35-piece orchestra and special guests, performing not just the new album but also selections from the first two volumes of the April trilogy. A decade and a half in the making, this final installment cements Younge's legacy as a leading expert of psychedelic soul and orchestral storytelling. Kicking off the night is none other than J.Rocc, founder of the legendary Beat Junkies, setting the tone with an opening DJ set. This is more than a concert--it's a moment in music history. Be there to witness it first. There are two ways to access this event: 1. General Admission, first-come first-served. Just show up! 2. Fast Track opening the Monday before the event at noon.
