Staged Reading | PEN World Voices: International Play Festival 2015


As part of the 2015 PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, the event will showcase play readings by nine of the world’s most respected dramatists Afghanistan, Argentina, Cuba, France, Germany, Indonesia, Kenya, and Uganda. The International Play Festival generates a conversation on art, politics, dreams, war, and philosophy, meant to give American audiences a rich awareness of the greater global dialogue. Lecture | Reflections on the Cultural History of Surveillance


MIT professor Jim Paradis will offer a broad exploration of cultural origins of modern surveillance practice as revealed in nineteenth-century urban fiction, journalism, media technologies, and monitorial agencies and institutions. An effort will be made to gain a general understanding of the cultural agency behind the surveillance economy in diverse practices of the time, practices embodied in changing relationships between real people in real contexts. He will conclude with some observations on the uses of cultural history in design practice.

She is completing her senior year. In the Fall she will begin studying in the MM program at the New England Conservatory of Music as a merit scholar. Trenk has performed as a soloist and with ensembles at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, the Wagner College of Music in Staten Island, Loewe Theater, and Queensborough Community College, among other venues. She has also given performances for the Scarsdale Friends of Music and the Arts Programs and has performed concertos with the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra and the Scarsdale High Chamber Orchestra.
