Park Walk | Park Nature Walk


This walk is bringing attention to its vital role in creating one of the scarcest resources in all of Manhattan—wildlife habitat! Learn about the Park’s wildlife by joining experienced naturalists on guided nature walks along the Park’s esplanade. Enjoy a meandering waterfront walk while viewing and learning about the park’s flora and fauna, including some of the 85 different species of birds identified within Park boundaries. Peek into some of our many gardens to discover butterflies, dragonflies and other interesting insects. Get to know the native plants that thrive in unexpected places in and around the river’s edge.

Tour | End to End Walk: Flatbush Avenue


In this series of walks, explore the various thoroughfares from beginning to end. On this walk, follow Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn from its beginning near the East River waterfront to it conclusion near Jamaica Bay. Approximately 8-10 miles. Brisk, steady pace. Bring lunch. Rain cancels.

Parade | Celebrate Israel Parade


In 1964, thousands walked down Riverside Drive in support of the young State of Israel. This impromptu walk evolved into the Salute to Israel Parade. It has become the world’s largest gathering in celebration of Israel attracting worldwide media. The Parade enables the tri-state community to celebrate in a non-partisan, apolitical show of unity with Israel. In 2011 it was decided to change the name of the Parade in order to focus on celebrating the vibrant and diverse country of Israel. The Parade features over 30,000 marchers representing many organizations. Hundreds of thousands enthusiastic spectators gather to watch American and Israeli community leaders and dignitaries, entertainers, artists, musicians, dancers, celebrities, floats and marching bands.

Other | Outdoor Art Exhibit - Spring Show 2012


Now in its 82nd year, the Outdoor Art Exhibit will hold its annual spring show. The show features exciting new and veteran exhibitors in all categories of fine arts and fine crafts, both traditional and contemporary. Oils and watercolors, pastels and acrylics, graphics, photography and sculpture make up the fine arts group. The crafts include such specialties as jewelry, ceramics, wood, fiber and. mixed media. Each exhibit consists of an individual artist or artisan showing their own original work.

AMELIA, a new play based on the true story of one woman’s epic journey across Civil War America in search of her husband, will make its New York premiere in a site-specific production at a former Civil War prison camp. Previously developed at The Kennedy Center, AMELIA is an Editor’s Pick of The Washington Post that culminates at the gates of the notorious Andersonville Prison Camp where the central character is forced to disguise herself as a male Union soldier in this suspenseful and highly theatrical production.

New York Classical Theatre's roving production of Twelfth Night recasts the beloved comedy's setting as fin de siècle New York. The company will lead audiences on Shakespeare's lively journey of mistaken identities, misguided lovers, and joyous celebration, recasting the play's setting to New York City circa 1900.
