City Walk | Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo Tour


This is a 3-hour tour that begins with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, an icon of New York City for over 125 years, with spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The tour then moves on to a stroll of Brooklyn Heights, America’s and New York City’s first suburb. The tour then explores the neighborhood DUMBO before ending at the Fulton Ferry landing. This tour takes place every day at 10am.

Tour | Flatiron District Walking Tour

Workshop | Ultimate Frisbee Workshop


Combining the nonstop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of football, a game of Ultimate Frisbee is a great way to get in a Sunday workout. All skill levels and ages. Parks staff will be on hand to organize and facilitate the games - keeping the focus on fun. Discs will be provided. This event occurs every Sunday through February 28.

Talk | Why Fascism Wouldn’t Be Able To Stop A Fascist ISIL


With: Curt Collier. Recent political discourse meant to move the US towards limiting the movement and activities of Muslims feels to many to have echoes of 1930’s fascism. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary and the disasters of the past century's experiment with this hateful ideology, some of those on the far right feel we should resurrect some practices from this heinous ideology to win against terrorists in the Middle East. But just as former fascist regimes were blind to the root causes of social unrest, these arguments fail to grasp the real reasons for the Middle East conflict. Using environmental models this talk will show why targeting Muslims in no way will reduce one of the most pervasive causes of terrorism in the Middle East: global warming.

Dr. Barry Rose will be taking choir practices with the Junior Choristers. They together will offer the Eighth Annual Concert of Music for Treble Voices. Compositions will include those by Archer, Attwood, J.S. Bach, Copland, Dyson, Yon and Dr. Rose himself. Included will be a recently completed sacred song cycle that Dr. Rose has written for the choristers entitled “Songs for Grace.”

Alan Berliner’s ability to combine experimental cinema and artistic purpose has made him one of the most acclaimed independent filmmakers in the United States. In this unique master class, Berliner will discuss his use of sound and image metaphors in Intimate Stranger (1991) and Nobody’s Business (1996). The lecture will include a presentation of several clips from each film.
